“Very good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We spent 3 nights half board with 2 young children ( age 4 and 2). All worked out very well. Had read some less than positiive reviews about the food but we found it all to be very good. A good selection each day for breakfast and dinner and also not cold/lukewarm at all. The only things I would suggest are: provide WIFI in the rooms as well as the foyer, the parking is a bit expensive at €12 per day considering it is a small village and in theory you could park out on the street ( it's just that when we were there it was extremely cold). Also, for a family of four, to use the pool area cost nearly €30 which I thought was a bit steep considering we were staying there anyway and were only in there for about an hour...plus considering the extremely cold weather, we could only really use the hot jacuzzi with the kids in the end...perhaps you could even offer a reduced price for guests of the hotel? The space in itself was very nice with the outdoor jacuzzi, views etc.

Finally, the bath in the room was not ideal for bathing the kids...if I closed the shower door, I couldn´t reach the taps - small issue but not if the kids are still very small and need a bath as opposed to a shower!

Dear clients

First of all we would like to thank you for the trust in Piolets Park & SPA, especially after reading different comments on line about our services and making up an idea in advanced of the hotel. We also thank you for giving yourself and the hotel the opportunity to try the product and create an opinion on your own.

We really appreciate the advices and opinions left in this website. It is really useful for us so we can improve our performance every day. We would have in mind your suggestions, punctually about the spa and de internet access.
Besides, we are glad you could enjoy our gastronomic options, both breakfast and dinner.

Regarding the parking area which you comment it is for paid, also the outside areas in town are under payment. However, even though we have indoor parking for paid, our clients can park for free outside the hotel, after the entrance barrier.

We hope we have the opportunity to offer you our services again, and we hope you have had and excellent stay with us.

Kind regards,

“Enjoyed our stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We have just returned from a week skiing and stay at Piolets Park and Spa. We were initially worried that the Hotel Shuttle service to the Gondola would be a pain, however this was not the case. They had 2 buses running constantly throughout the day apart from 11.30am till 2.30pm. Last year we stayed at the Sport Hotel and the lockers although close to the gondola were a trek (when you are carrying x2 kids skis/poles too). Lockers are free and are housed in the basement where the car park is. It does say that you should take the locker number that corresponds with your room number however reception confirmed that you can take any number. We discovered this when our locker was already taken. The Ski Hire shop is within the hotel so no treking up the road for your kit. The reception area looks modern rather than the traditional catalan styled receptions you get in some of the other local hotels. We did feel though that because of this it didn't have much ambience and was a bit like an airport lounge. Probably personal preference on that one. WIFI is free in the reception area.
Everybody mentions the food so here we go, overall a wide selection of food with the starter salad area being the best. Yes there is a big selection of fish but what do you expect you are in Europe where they eat a lot more fish. If you want to eat pie and chips then stay at home :-) The main "show area" (where you see the chefs cook) and where you get your main meals from has less variety and sometimes it was difficult to pull together a meal. To be honest though after having a few plates of the starter area we normally didn't mind a smaller main meal. Our kids absolutely loved the variety and the ability to try a bit of this and that. We do have to agree though that the hot food was luke warm more often than hot (Piolets this could surely be resolved with turning the hot plates up???). Staff in the restaurant area are pleasant and polite. Yes they do take away your plates quickly when you are finished but we preferred this as we were trying a few dishes at a time. If they weren't cleared away quickly we would have a stack of plates in the way.
The reception staff were polite and efficient and a particular thank you to one member of staff who went out of his way to help us when our son had to go to the emergency Doctor as he had difficulty breathing. He called the Dr and then walked me up the road carrying my son and then offering us a lift back and asking how he was in the morning. Thanks again (sorry I forgot to ask your name in the panic)
Rooms are fine, clean and quiet overlooking the mountains.

Hope this review helps.

It is one of our mayor premise, commitment and effort in finding the most important services for our guest to help them during their stay.

“I was worried after reading reviews !!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I read the reviews after I booked and actually asked travel agent if it was possible to rebook. It wasn't possible and so I arrived worried. I found the staff helpful, the rooms clean, the trip to the gondola by minibus was a pain but we left it until 10am when it got quiet, which was fine. And the food was okay. Yes it was a bit boring but was good quality, yes it was only warm and they could do with a microwave, but all in all I have had a hell of a lot worse. I found all the staff helpful and the room was tidied well. The hotel is a little tatty in places but I would and will stay again next month when I go skiing again. The only thing I would say and this is not about hotel is the tour company will try and sell you a soldu by night trip up the mountain where you can go down the mountain on a Tractor inner tube and you get a free meal. I paid 25 euros each and got two goes down the slope for that. The slope they use is virtually flat so the speeds are awful. You get chicken wings and chips which are colder than cold and a lot of people made a run for the gondola when it was switched on because it was so crap. My advice is get the euros in five euro notes so you have ten of them for two of you, set them alight so you get warmth from them and then you will have got better value for money than that trip.

“Buffet food and Service Dreadful”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Room was the biggest we have had but a bit of a trek to get there from reception 2 lifts and exiting building each time.Staff at reception nice and shuttle service to ski lift very good. however, the whole experience was completely ruined by the buffet food. It was so bad we cut our loses and ate out after the first night. I have never had such bad food on a skiing holiday even when I was broke in the 80's. It was just like school diners without the friendly school staff serving. Breakfast was ok but even that was an awful .People passing every second , kids running around and staff rushing to take plates away. When I went to complain to the PR staff after the first nights meal , she sent two bottles of juice and 4 sweets to the room to apologise! The Spa was 12 E and extra for towels. Not worth it at all , small , no ambience , full of people which reflected the hotel as a whole. I had paid a whopping 40 E the day before to go to another spa but that was worth every euro. The hotel was like a 70's Butlin's camp on snow ! Definitately not to be repeated"......

Room Tip: Choose another hotel unless you can get room only

“Not the Finest”

Stayed here in between the 22 – 29 Jan.
Travelled with Crustal Ski
Room 417
This is a very nice modern hotel with comfortable bedrooms and a large bathroom although we couldn’t find the cushions for the sofa bed until the last day, we did ask but no help was forthcoming so we had to do without a sofa to sit on for most of the stay (cushions where eventually found stuffed under the double bed!!).
There is ski hire shop in the hotel which is very handy and is located next to the bar, hotel provides ski lockers (you’ll need 1 Euro) in the garage area and one of the two minibus will transport you from here to the Gondola in the morning.
The spa and swimming pool is excellent but it’ll cost you 12 Euros a day per guest, which I think is a bit excessive for a swim as most hotels I’ve stayed either provide the facility for free to their guests or at a much reduced cost.
Sadly I must agree with the other comments about the food, the breakfast is good with plenty of selection, but the buffet dinner was very disappointing, so much so we only had dinner here twice and that was enough. We spent the rest of the trip eating out in the local restaurants, but this made the whole trip a lot more expensive than it should have been.
This is a nice hotel but should not be advertised as a ‘Finest’ for the above reasons.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 417, very quiet and nice view.
