I am one of a party of six that have just returned from this hotel on Sun 29th Jan 2012 after a brillant week sking in Soldeu. The hotel is lovely, food is good but only warm due to being left out in large containers and not being kept over a heating element / flame. But this is not unusual for europe I find food is usually warm and not HOT the way I would prefer it. The hotel rooms are very warm at night but this is probably really good when it is very cold which it wasn.t whilst we were there. Nice front bar although PICADILLY bar was not open, but for those of you that have been in SOLDEU before you will know apres is beat at the iceberg its bye 1 get 1 free from 16:30 - 18:00. But overall we all loved the hotel. Mind you i have stayed at the PIOLETs before about 6 years ago and it was just as good for food / room etc.

I would consider myself a 'fair' reviewer now and therefore feel, that the following review is more than fair !

After an illness last year, which meant our annual trip to Soldeu was cancelled, we decided to 'upgrade' from the regular Piolets, to the' Fantastic' Sport, this year.

What a mistake !

For the extra cost, the only true improvement was the food, which had a significant 'edge' to that of the Piolets.

The rooms are VERY dated, with paper thin walls and the one we had, Room 5127, had a disgusting 'blocked drain' smell hanging in the room .
After consulting the Housemaid, Bellboy and 4 fellow guests, an approach was made to Reception, to re site us.
A truly arrogant Receptionist told us that there was no smell in the room and if there was 'it must be your clothes !! ' TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE !
She eventually agreed to move us to a rear facing room, the morning after !
The duty Manager obliged and found us another room.

The Bar and waiting on staff, Andrei, Carmel, David etc are a really good Team who cannot do enough for you during your stay, I would however, NOT recommend this Hotel above the Piolets or Piolets Park.

Absolutely top notch hoel, right across the road from the main lift to the midway station. Resort is great for medium level ski-ers, good ski school and most instructors were English. The hotel has various areas to chill out in, several bars, or just a cosy chair by the fire.

Just returned after a week in Sport Hotel in Soldeau. A very attractive hotel very conveniently located for the ski lockers and gondola. Beautiful reception area, well appointed, clean and comfortable rooms with the advantage of having a bath with plenty of hot water which is great after a hard day skiing. The restaurant is huge and there was a very varied buffet for starters and desserts, with a choice of main courses including grilled meats, fish etc cooked to order. Great for people with a big appetite - for me just a little over-facing but that's not a criticism by any means! Bar a bit on the expensive side but it's easy to stroll down the road and find a cheaper alternative. We were given a complimentary session at the spa (which is located in the Sport Village over the road and accessed by and underground walkway) which was great, however please note that it had to be taken within the first 2 days of the stay and before 3pm. The hotel staff are efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. My only slight quibble is that smoking is allowed in public areas within the hotel, however I appreciate that this is allowed in Andorra and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
