“brilliant apartments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

The staff here were incredibly friendly and helpful and gave us great advice and recommendations. We got a great discount on our ski supplies in the shop attached to the apartments. The staff in the shop were also really decent and accomodating. The place itself is literally a two minute walk to the lift that takes you to the slopes. There is a pharmacy and a supermarket attached to the apartments as well as the ski supply shop. On top of all these advantages the apartment itself was really spacious, clean and comfortable (the sofa bed excluded in this, really uncomfortable) I can't recommend this place enough, the place really helped us along in having a great holiday. Do try to not end up on the couch bed though!

“Stay Here! (But avoid the couch beds..)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

The location, first of all, is excellent. You are less than a minute's walk from the main Arinsal gondola. The staff are very helpful and very friendly, not just in the apartments side of things but also in the ski shop (where we got a great rate for rentals), the pharmacy and the supermarket that are all in the same building. On a bad note, the fold out couch beds are very uncomfortable; the mattresses are very thin and it feels like you are lying on metal bars. If the couch beds were comfortable I would have given 'Excellent' in the ratings but they are so uncomfortable.

Cleaners come every day to the apartment, which was a nice surprise, but they don't do much. They change the bins and make the beds; that's pretty much it really. In the apartment you will find plenty of towels but these are not changed during your stay. There is no washing machine but pop down to the supermarket for washing powder and wash your items in any one of the many sinks.

There is free high speed wireless internet in the apartment which was great to have.

If you are eating out, food in Andorra is of a very poor quality. We were much happier when we started making packed lunches and cooking our own breakfast and dinners (supermarkets are very cheap). The local people and the Spanish people are very friendly but in many of the bars and restaurants you can be very quickly duped into a special offer (e.g. cheap beer turns out to be a horrible nasty can of cheap beer) and the service and food can be really, really bad.

AVOID: 'Surf' and 'Quo Vadis' - the staff in Surf were appalling, they were extremely rude, really horrible to us and to my eight year old nephew who was also on the trip. They got our orders wrong too and didn't apologise or reduce the bill. For the first time in my life there was a unanimous decision to not leave a tip. I should say that the staff were not locals or Spanish people. It was the same in 'Quo Vadis' - the food was disgusting, I mean really disgusting - we didn't eat it but the staff said it was tough luck and offered no refund. The coffee there was also disgusting.

GO TO: El Cau for drinks and snacks, the staff are nice and friendly and the beer is reasonably cheap. Cisco's is a good spot, by far the best food and best service that we experienced anywhere in Arinsal. El Derby Irish Bar is a good spot for drinks but it's the most expensive bar in town so be warned!

“Simply Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2010

What a fab find! We followed advice from fellow reviewers and book SM apartments. We were in 206 and it was Class A. It was totally ideal esp when travelling with young children. Great to have fulled kitted out kitchen and dining table etc. Beds were fine (sofa beds OK for children prob not for adults all week) SUCH wonderful staff who helped out whenever we needed it and gave our children St Patricks Day gifts! So friendly Aprtments cleaned everyday/ Location was great and v close to ski lift. Ski hire and Supermarket and Pharmacy in same building. Car parking safe and secure (8euros a day) Bit noisy at times but prob only noticed it because we had children in bed early evening. All just wonderful and I hope we can go back!

“Best location in Arinsal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2010

Four of us stayed in St Moritz for a week over New Years and based on our experience and that of the people we met, it was definitely the most conveniently located accomodation. Right in the centre of town with a pharmacy, supermarket and ski hire shop in the same building and the gondola about 2min walk away, we really couldn't have asked for a better location. Given the poor quality food on offer on the slopes, we managed to go back to our apartment to have lunch every day, hassle-free.
The rooms were modern and clean and serviced daily by friendly staff. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was spacious with a big corner tub. There is also free locker room for skis and boots which was just as convenient (given the location of the apartment) as hiring lockers on top of the slopes.
As there wasn't much in the way of good quality food in Arinsal, we found that self-catering was really the way to go although we know what essentials to take with us next time to save us buying new (washing up liquid, herbs and spices etc)!
Would definitely recomment Sant Moritz to anyone going to Arinsal.
