The location, first of all, is excellent. You are less than a minute's walk from the main Arinsal gondola. The staff are very helpful and very friendly, not just in the apartments side of things but also in the ski shop (where we got a great rate for rentals), the pharmacy and the supermarket that are all in the same building. On a bad note, the fold out couch beds are very uncomfortable; the mattresses are very thin and it feels like you are lying on metal bars. If the couch beds were comfortable I would have given 'Excellent' in the ratings but they are so uncomfortable.
Cleaners come every day to the apartment, which was a nice surprise, but they don't do much. They change the bins and make the beds; that's pretty much it really. In the apartment you will find plenty of towels but these are not changed during your stay. There is no washing machine but pop down to the supermarket for washing powder and wash your items in any one of the many sinks.
There is free high speed wireless internet in the apartment which was great to have.
If you are eating out, food in Andorra is of a very poor quality. We were much happier when we started making packed lunches and cooking our own breakfast and dinners (supermarkets are very cheap). The local people and the Spanish people are very friendly but in many of the bars and restaurants you can be very quickly duped into a special offer (e.g. cheap beer turns out to be a horrible nasty can of cheap beer) and the service and food can be really, really bad.
AVOID: 'Surf' and 'Quo Vadis' - the staff in Surf were appalling, they were extremely rude, really horrible to us and to my eight year old nephew who was also on the trip. They got our orders wrong too and didn't apologise or reduce the bill. For the first time in my life there was a unanimous decision to not leave a tip. I should say that the staff were not locals or Spanish people. It was the same in 'Quo Vadis' - the food was disgusting, I mean really disgusting - we didn't eat it but the staff said it was tough luck and offered no refund. The coffee there was also disgusting.
GO TO: El Cau for drinks and snacks, the staff are nice and friendly and the beer is reasonably cheap. Cisco's is a good spot, by far the best food and best service that we experienced anywhere in Arinsal. El Derby Irish Bar is a good spot for drinks but it's the most expensive bar in town so be warned!
