The service experienced at the Xalet Verdu was very good. Apart from one person at the front desk, who appeared disinterested in everything. The rest of the staff were very helpful and friendly, despite the fact our knowledge of the Catalan language was nil they tried very hard to make us welcome.
The room we were allocated was a bit on the small side, but very clean, with superb views down the valley, and over the pool.
The hotel is in a very good location at the top end of the village with excellent views, the pool was always clean, and there were more than enough sunbeds. There is also a comfortable lounge with a pool table and game machine. Internet access is available for a small fee.
We stayed half board and found the food satisfying, a buffet breakfast had the variation to satisfy most peoples tastes, and always set us up well for a days walking. We were provided with a packed lunch each day, which varied daily, and were probably the best packed lunches we have ever had provided.
The evening meal started with a self service first course, which could also be a 2nd. and 3rd. course if desired. A 3 choice main course, and 3 choice dessert. Definitely not Michelin style, but satisfying for our needs after hard days in the mountains.
The best things about this hotel are its location, friendliness and food.
If there is a criticism, the rooms are on the small side, and smoking is allowed in the bar area, which might be offensive to some, but appears to be the norm in Andorra.
Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel have no balconies but superb views down the valley.
