“Great hotel - really pleased with our choice.”

I thoroughly researched this hotel and it was exactly what we wanted in so many respects.

Location wise - It's right next to the 6 man chairlift so getting to the pistes in the morning was so easy. It has a blue run down to the bottom which if you're heading back to the hotel after skiing was handy. I knew on booking it was up a hill and the walks down into town and back were fine for me. It was a reason why my parents would've been happier by the gondola when they go back. If you're early and lazy enough you can take the chairlift up and gondola down and vice versa! There are also 2 buses (one free, one at E1.50) but you'd be hard pushed to find a taxi. If you frequent the Irish bar enough they'll drop you back!

I thought the decor of the hotel was nice in the communal areas and busy enough with people on wi-fi. Though the reception staff weren't the most dynamic, the bar lady serving our E2.50 glasses of wine was lovely and very attentive. Our room shared the floor with the dining area which didn't bother us. It was spacious with enough with big bed, table, storage and kitchenette. Wet room bathroom flooded slightly but was sorted for us same day.

I can understand why the food may not be to everyones taste. Choice is limited but I always found something to eat. Breakfast was great, but dinner varied from ok to really good. We never went hungry though. We'd often have an apres ski bite to eat in town which was so cheap. For the price you pay for the hotel, I really wouldn't expect the world. Saying that my parent at the Crest next door had it worse than us.

This was our first time to Andorra having only ever skiied in the 3 Vallees and Canada before. I am experienced while it was my husband's first time but both of us would go back. It was so much cheaper, happier and relaxed than we'd expected, We were pleasantly surprised.

Room Tip: 4th Floor is on the dining floor - which was fine for us but could be construed as noisy.

“Good value for money - Terrible food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The rooms are really nice with a small living-room area and a kitchen.
The location is quite good since it's just next to a ski-lift and there is one blue slope going directly to the hotel. The bar is quite nice with plenty of space and a fireplace. It is a 20 min walk from the bars and the city centre and the road is not really agreable for pedestrians.
The biggest issue when we went there was the food. The taste was quite bad and the ingredients were not fresh. We were always hungry after a day of skiing but hunger quickly disappeared after we arrived in the restaurant. Both of us got really sick, which was quite scary considering we hardly ever get problems when travelling to more exotic places like India.

“Great ski holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Good hotel, clean, well situated for the ski lift (when open! ), good value, rooms clean and comfortable with facility of kitchenette (you pay more for this) but microwave and fridge definately very handy - nice microwaved hot water for a cuppa in the morning! We had half board arrangement via Directski from 19th Dec to 26th. Rooms clean and although not ultra modern were nice and tidy with plenty of room, TV and a table and chairs to sit at. We had a double bed and a sofabed (a couple and a 16yr old) so could have slept 4, our friends were a party of 6 (a couple, 8&10yr olds and a 19yr old) and that was a on a lower floor and a longer room with 2 singles, 3 singles in a sofa bed and it seemed to have worked well. Both comfy. Nice balcony at front for a bit of fresh air too. Our room had a bath but think they all do - a necessity when skiing! The hotel has a nice bar, sauna and steam room (you hire these together so it's very private), and a decent restaurant. Food was good, nice selection - mostly Spanish food thankfully - good selection including cold meats, salads, cheeses, reasonable selection of mains (chicken, fish, veggie) and desserts. Suggest getting there early when it's all fresh of course. Nice selection of wines, reasonable prices too, waiter service for drinks otherwise it's buffet help yourself (and as many times as you like). Helpful, genuinely friendly staff who all spoke English but who, naturally, appreciated attempts at Spanish. A couple of broken light bulbs in the room changed with no fuss and quickly. Only niggle was our room radiator wasn't hot enough so it took a while to dry out clothes initially but the Duty Manager gave us a supplementary electric hot air blow heater that did the job. Overall a decent place to stay. The chair lift wasn't open at first when we arrived so we had to get the bus down to the cable car, this was OK, if the bus was on time (we had lessons to get to at 9am each day!) but once the chair lift opened it was just a 5 minute journey to the ski areas. The last free bus back from the village stops quite early (we had trouble getting a definitive time but was about 6'ish), so if you want to eat in the village or stay in one of the bars it's a long walk back up the hill as the hotel is at the top end, but there is a pay bus (1.5 Euro) but we didn't use it and maybe that ran a bit later. A tip is to ask in the Irish Bar if they can get someone to drop you back to the hotel, and if they have someone on duty who can they will. The Derby Bar. But back to the hotel - a good value, clean and friendly place and ideally situated for sking if the chair lift is open. In the bar area are lots of seats, sofas and as it was Xmas they had a woman there who did activities with the kids which was nice. There's a pool table in there too. I'd definately stay at the hotel again.

Room Tip: High floor at the corridor end to minimise noise of people to'ing and fro'ing and away from...

“Great Hotel and Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Hotel room for families are big enough for the week, great having the kitchenette for that after skiing cup of tea (or beer). The food was good with a choice of soup, meat, fish and a salad bar, but they do serve chips every night, which our girls thought was great as well as the ice-cream which is on tap throughout the evening meal time. The restaurant staff where fab and very attentive. The Hotel is situated at the top of the hill opposite the six man chair lift(fab) Also it is only a 10 minute walk into town although there is a lack of pavement, or you can take the free bus from right outside the door. You can also take the free bus in the mornings over to Arcalis at 8.30am or 10.30 from right outside the hotel. It's well worth a trip but be warned its hell getting back especailly the 3.30 return bus(its a free for all) If you have children there is no guarantee of you getting back on this bus. Do yourself a favour and book a taxi in the Arcalis resort at the tourist information and pay 30 euros for a cab and avoid the stress.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 5th floor which was great as the childrens room, sauna, and gym are situated he...

“Last minute ski holiday with 3+5 yr olds Jan 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We have just returned from Arinsal and I thought a little review was in order for this hotel. We took a gamble on this hotel as it was unknown to us but I'm glad we did.
It was excellent value for money.Good Staff in restaurant and bar all very friendly and spoke English well and with a smile. The food was good and only one night was there very little for any of us to eat. But that was down to taste rather than availability. As other reviews said "plentiful, healthy and warm" The location is great for the 6 man chair lift (though this is a little hairy with two small children and everyone's ski boots) the walk down the hill on the rest day was good and the L5 or the free bus run frequently to save your legs on the uphill way home!
We had cause for an ambulance to be called on our 2nd night (3rd Jan) our 5 yr old had a severe asmatha attack. But I'd like to say the guy (sorry didn't catch his name) on night duty was fast and efficient and called the amubulance as soon as he heard our calls for help
.
So all in all a very good, clean, VERY HOT - take t-shirts and slippers hotel and our room had a little kitchenette so you can have food in your room as fridge/hob/pans/microwave provided
