We had booked to stay at Hotel Andorra Center at their special promotional rate (beginning of December, still the off-peak season), but a last-minute change of plan forced us to abandon that option and look for an alternative on arrival in the city. Out of several 3* hotels we enquired about along Av. Meritxell, Hotel de L'Isard was the cheapest (50EUR per room per night for 2, including breakfast) and most friendly. You couldn't get much better location than this hotel in Andorra La Vella. It's less than 5 minutes walk to the National Tourist Information Centre, right opposite Department Store Pyrenees, literally just a few doors down from the city's cinema, and the vicinity (we're talking about 5 minutes walking distance here) offers endless choices of restaurants, bars, shops and public carparks. The lady on duty in the evening doesn't speak English but was very eager to help, explaining the details and showing us the hotel car park, etc. We took a look at the room before the final decision. It's really a triple room: a double bed in the usual place and a single bed reachable by a wooden staircase leading to the landing half-way in air, a bit of a funny design though works just fine. The bathroom is on the small side, nonetheless sparkling clean and very modern. We were able to park our car off-street, being in the off-peak season and therefore saving the 12.50ERU charge for the hotel's car park (until noon the day of check-out). The buffet-style breakfast offers ceneral, yogurt, fruits, a selection of ham and cured/smoked meats, bread and pastries, bacon, tortillas and of course orange juice and hot drinks. The computer with internet connection at the hotel lounge was very useful (1EUR for 30 minutes). We were generally very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.
