At the time of making my booking the hotel was still under the 5 star rating Crowne Plaza banner which gave the impression that i would be staying at a far better hotel than what was the case.
the type of room i booked was renamed during the name change and while this actual room was available i was given a different room to what was booked- I was offered the same booked room at a cost of an additional fee of 70Euro per night!
after searching the type of room i was given on the i/net i noted that i was being overcharge by 25euro per night.... this was 3 nights into my stay.
i attended the less than friendly (or interested) staff at the reception and asked to speak to the manager, Mr Rafael, who attended and courteously listened to my grievances then acted on them and i was relocated to the room for which i had booked 5 months earlier.
the Holiday Inn has inherited the 5 star rating from its predecessor and no doubt this will change once it has been reviewed and re-evaluated by the rating authority.
Bathroom items such as shampoo that you would expect to be replenished was not and other minor items (tea bags etc) that is generally associated with paid accomodation was less than the expectation of 5 star living.
As for the staff, with the exception of Rafael and 1 other male concierge member, there is no interest in assisting in any way shape or form and getting help or asking questions to the reception was a complete a waste of time and no pamphlets were available in either the foyer or rooms.
at checking out i was not refunded the 25euro per night for the first 3 nights and as Rafael was not available there was no point in challenging this with the staff at the desk.
one other problem with this hotel was the taking down of the security pin number from my credit card and when asked why this has been done and I stated that the hotel has now compromised my cards security the response was a flat "this is our policy".
I would not personally use this hotel again nor recommend it to friends going to Andorra for a vacation.
