“First visit to Andorra”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

The hotel was polite from the moment we booked our room and welcomed us by email. Hence we looked forward to our overnight stop, making up for the fact we hadn't realised it was a long drive into and then back out of Andorra. Car parking were incredibly helpful and shops with good deals were close at hand. We were sad we didn't have time to use the spa facilities with the kids. The room was a bit tight when the sofa was pulled out for the kids but we all slept well on good matresses!

“Excellent, modern Novotel right in the centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

Stayed in a standard double room overlooking the river for just one night after walking out of the dated Mercure next door. Have to thank both hotels for transferring my non-cancellable booking.

Rooms were typical new-look Novotel and were very pleasant. Included free wifi Internet and free water in the room.

Level of English from the staff was poor so beware (but that could be said for all of Andorra).

Bar was nice but smokey. Would recommend.

“trip to Andorra”

my wife and I decided to go to Andorra for the night/day from Carcassonne and booked the Novotel in La Vella on line. I always like the Novotel brand and was not disappointed. Excellent, large room with all mod cons and a toilet seperate to the main bathroom. Located right in the town centre but the air-con was good so no noise from an open window. Staff very helpful though clearly English is less spoken than French, Castillian and Catalan due to the location of this tiny principality. There was an under ground car park below the hotel but at about 1.35m max height our car was too tall, but public parking near by. We ate in town at a popular pizza restaurant recommended to us by a shop assistant (Angelo's I think it was called) so did not try the hotel food, which I think is served at the next door Mercure. Great short break in a modern hotel which I would be pleased to stay at again. Free hi-speed wi-fi.

“Good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2004

We have stayed here a couple of times and the first thing is to warn visitors about the car park system! You MUST check in before you park your car, even though this means blocking the entrance while you do so - otherwise you will have the car park attendant chasing your car into the parking and refusing to let you unload your bags - very strange! The hotel itself is nice but the rooms are a bit worn and shabby. It overlooks one of the busiest streets so can be very noisy if you open the windows - which you have to do as the air conditioning isn't great - and Andorrans seem to like to party.

You have the use of pool and facilities in the Mercure next door, which is nicely laid out with an indoor pool, suna, jacuzzis, steam room and a lovely padded play area for kiddies. Plus there's a games area for the older kids, with playstations 24 hours. Oustide there are sun loungers on the roof, mini golf and a small paddle pool and play house for children.

Staff are pleasant and helpful and breakfast is plentiful, with a good choice (beware the coffee machine though - it's terrible). The bar area is calm, comfy and reasonable. It's worth noting that although they advertise having 3 restaurants, two of these are located in their sister hotels, Ibis and Mercure. Mercure is right next door but Ibis is a 5 minute drive away. The restaurant in Novotel is only open one night a week. We ate at the Mercure buffet (20 euros) which was good value and varied but can be none too hot. Beware of the children's charges as we had been told by Novotel that our 4 and 6 year old were free, only to be charged at Mercure as they start charging the 15 euros at age 6. Also worth mentioning is that the buffet doesn't start until 8pm.

We have stayed at both Novotel and Crowne Plaza in Andorra and would definitely go back to the Novotel both for the facilities of Mercure and for value for money. Family rooms can be had for as little as 80-100 euros.

This is an older hotel located in the center of town. The swimming pool is located in the Mercure hotel across the street. The rooms are good sized but they are not the renovated room as in other Novotels. Parking is 12 Euros. Buffet dinner 20-22 Euros.
