...it's better! When you're in the hospitality trade as we are, you DO expect the best and become over critical, but AVANTI NEVER falls short of stunning. Our review from 2010 - the Ash Cloud Saga - appears below! We returned in 2011 to find the same brilliant service but, the gardens are prettier, they get better with age and AND AND we finally discovered Paphos' famous water park. Magical for Children and a BLAST for adults alike. Avanti is best placed to take advantage of the short walk to the Water park (bus service runs also) We phoned the Water park BEFORE leaving UK to sort best deals and discounts, they obliged and saved us £££'s. Best of all? We can't WAIT to return to Avanti Village (and Hotel, we use the restaurant) this Spring 2012. It will our 6th stay!!! PAPHOS itself has changed too! The walk along the beach from AVANTI to the harbour is absolutely beautiful, easy for children's buggies, wheelchairs etc and stunning views of the med. They are still improving the scenery with new apartments and landscaping projects so when it's finished it will look even better.
We travelled with our Four Children aged 13, 12, 8 yrs and Baby of 9 months. Having stayed at the neighbouring sister venue, The Avanti Hotel in 2002, 2004 and 2008 we were very au fait with the area but nervous about the change from hotel to Village. Would the service but up to scratch, facilities be as expected, would the accomodation be sufficient ??? No need to have worried! The village is superb! Gorgeous to look at, brilliant staff with fabulous personalities and they ADORE children, even our noisy ones! The in-door pool is a great option if you travel at the start of the season as we did. The HUGE outdoor pools ABSOLUTELY essential when the weather gets warmer. Free WiFi was a life-saver for us (we were there during the Icelandic Volcano Crisis!) They COULD have charged over the top like the other venues across town (cafes etc) but kept the service free of charge. You could TELL the staff felt for the holiday-makers affected by the ash cloud, but never a sense of panic and always a willingness to 'go the extra mile' Thanks to Andrea and Karen and Dragana on reception for keeping the flight information up-to-date and for the use of the office printer! The apartements are great, never more than two storeys, all with balcony or veranda, loads of space, really clean with housekeeping visits every day! Stunning! You get a TV that works, ours had SKY and BBC channels! Bath & Shower en suite, AC Oven Hob, everything from egg whisk to toaster! We ate at the Village's Poolside restaurant a lot though. Breakfast buffet is by far the best we've tasted, sets you up for the day. We also used the restaurant back at the Avanti Hotel for the varied and themed evening meals. Lots of people do, as you're always welcome to use both venues' facilities! The Chef is VERY accomodating, if the kids didn't fancy what we had, he'd do a freshly prepared menu of nuggets or fish fingers just for them! The entertainment is varied, professional and always keeps the kids occupied while the adults get to grips with Cocktail list. Take part in the entertainment and you can actually WIN cocktails. All in all, a fab holiday at a time when a global crisis could have seen it go so wrong, so easily. Paphos itself is looking cleaner and more chic than ever! Definitely returning. Definitely!
It's taken me a while, we went in Sept 2011 for our wedding, and wanted somewhere that suited 15 varied people- and it was enjoyed by all ages, 1 to 64! Lovely pool, although no deeper than 5 feet or so, v big shallow area for little ones. Recommend block A as closest to reception/pool/restaurant, and we enjoyed being upstairs with a terrace. Rooms are spacious and clean. We got married while there, but not at the hotel, even so the assistant manager Liza was so helpful and friendly in making sure it all went smoothly, and made sure we got a complimentary bottle of bubbly, as did another of our party on their birthday. breakfast buffet was nice and plenty, and there is a courtyard area nearby with 4 or 5 bars/ restaurants for a reasonably priced dinner and drinks. 5 mins walk to the 'beach' but it's just a scrap of sand. Better off at the pool, or get the bus to Coral Bay, only 1 or 2 euros via the harbour. About 30 mins walk to the harbour, or hop on one of the many buses. Free wifi in the lobby, 5 mins walk to Avanti Hotel, but no need to go there, the pool is the same at the village.
All in all, good value for money and great fun.
Just planning our 2012 holiday and it's prompted me to getting round to writing my review from last year as we are definately considering returning to the Avanti.
We were really impressed on arrival. One of the best check-in experiences to date. Once inside the complex we were equally impressed. Lovely sized pool! Plenty of sun beds and good facilities close to hand.
We were B&B which we couldn't fault. We didn't eat in during evenings (to much exploring to do!) but the menus for the themed nights at the hotel looked nice.
Our room was massive and the layout of the complex gives it all a really nice feel.
The Avanti is in a great location. It's on the bus route to the airport and the main part of Pathos, with it's own litle community of restaurants, bars and shops around it. We got into a routine of taking the bus (1 euro to anywhere!) into town then strolling back. It's also a great location to start exploring from? We got the bus everywhere the tour companies offered.
We can definitely recommend to ruins in Pathos town right on the coast - go an hour before they close, it's cooler, few visitors and amazing to see the sun setting behind the ruins. Also just next to here the Coastal walk is fantastic. If you go as the sun sets it's a Lovely walk.
We've done a lot of travelling and there are few sun holiday destinations we would consider visiting more than once, but we would definitely return here without any hesitation.
We had a very good family holiday here. If you have kids I can't recommend it highly enough. The pool is totally oriented towards them, with a lazy river and almost endless shallow end. The buffet breakfast is fine but not brilliant. We went self catering and bought vouchers which covered 3 days. Rooms are big and airy and functional. It's further from Paphos than we thought but the buses are regular. The "kids disco" at the next door hotel was a bit poor, with some young club kids making a half baked attempt at putting a couple of kid's tunes on, but it's a minor gripe. We went into town most evenings anyway.
Overall, the pool area made the holiday here great for our three little 'uns. Staff were great, particularly the reception staff.
