I must emphasise that this, mostly critical, review is based on my & my wife's experience during our visit 4th. to 11th. Feb. 2012.
We are not ultra-fussy & are fully aware that a cheap holiday is just that.
On arrival the young man at reception was polite & amiable & after the formalities we asked him if there was somewhere nearby that we could get a meal. It was just after 9pm & he said it's a bit late for going out I will ask my brother the chef if he can provide a meal tho' the kitchen shuts at 9. He could, so we paid 21 euros for a lukewarm plate of food that had not been freshly prepared & was virtually inedible. We chose not to eat there again. After the 'meal' we wanted a walk & Jaimie the entertainer pointed us in the right direction for the sea front whereupon we came across several suitable eating places where we could have had a very pleasant meal, as we did on succeeding nights.
The hotel had been of quite a good standard, 20 odd years ago but is now in desperate need of a total overhaul. Nothing was terribly bad but nothing was good either.
It was unusually cold when we were there & you could not sit around in the un-heated studio apartment, apparently some have heating tho'.
Jaimie did a great job despite the limitations of his surroundings but the thing that was most objectionable is that people smoked openly in the bar, even Nikos as he was pouring drinks!
To complain would have produced a reaction from said smokers so we just tolerated it & put up with stinking clothes.
Self-catering facilities are minimal. Breakfast was very basic but liveable with bearing in mind the price.
We did manage to enjoy our break away in Cyprus because we are adaptable & able to make the best of the cicumstances we are in.
A taxi from the Airport to Paphiessa was 30 euros. bus back to airport 2 euros each. The bus service is excellent. I may add to this review later when I have more time.
