“Winter Break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Unlike other reviewers, we found the staff to be friendly, cheerful and helpful. Food was ok, nothing special as was the breakfast and lunch. The tables were cleared away promptly. Room and bathroom clean although have to agree with previous comments that the beds and pillows were very hard. The towels were frayed and worn, need to be replaced. Also only sky news on tv, at this time of year it would be nice to have some other english speaking channels.
The hotel had a captive audience for its evening entertainment programme as all the bars outside were shut, but to be fair it was not too bad. The young lady who arranged the daily
games programme and sold bingo tickets etc in the evening was very friendly and bubbly.
There was a bus strike whilke we were there that lasted for 5 days, we did not want to hire a car, so relied on the unreliable taxi mini bus service that ran from outside the reception should have run on the hour but did'nt. When the strike ended it was much better, could hop on and off
buses all day for 2 euros.
On the whole for what we paid for all inclusive for the time of year it was good value. Although only for a short break, would not go for our main summer holiday.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front overlooking the pool/sea are sunnier

“Good friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed for 2 weeks a/l end of January. The weather was terrible and there was a week long bus strike so we were marooned here!
The hotel is very clean and the facilities are good. Laura is in charge of the entertainment during the day and is always smiling and as great memory for names. The evening entertainment is poor except for the Karioke nights when the guests sing that was fun.
The food is good (except stale sandwiches you get on arrival in evening)lots of choice and plenty of it but again my gripe was that it wasnt hot enough. I suggest you go all inclusive as the drinks are expensive a Remy Martin brandy was 13.80 Euros !
The rooms are good but the beds are so hard I believe you can get matteress toppers and I wish I had by the end of my stay.
Also our room had an ant problem so if you are in 325 make sure they have sprayed it . We did tell them and although the maid sprayed it didnt do much as they just came back with more of their little friends to party in the sink!
The pool indoors is small and I did not find out till a day or so before home that you could join in with the aqua aerobics if you were a/l. Out door pool to cold and not in use also sunbeds very uncomfortable no matteresses
They do not provide water so you need to ask at the bar for a glass of water for the room if you need to take medication etc.
The only bar was the Emerine cocktail bar and the staff were friendly Olga could smile a bit more as she comes across a bit abrupt but this is just her way,
The bus to paphos is out side the hotel through the gardens and 2 Euros you can hop on and off the buses all day. Many of the bars along the road outside were closed during our stay but there are a few of these and some had reasonable prices once they open again next month. I would use this hotel again and I believe there is the opportunity to upgrade to A/L on arrival

Room Tip: Dont bother with a side sea view room not worth it really have to strain to see the sea

We arrived at the Crown Resorts Horizon in early Feb 2012. We arrived at 10.40pm in the evening. We were told we could get sandwiches at the bar as the Restaurant was closed. We got a drink and sandwiches which were awful no butter stale, hard and tasteless we were unable to eat them. We went to our room situated on the first floor it was very basic no tea or coffee facilities the fridge didnt work unless you ordered and paid for a mini bar and then any food would be taken out by the maid if stored there. The mattress was like a wooden door and we found it impossible to sleep. Breakfast next morning was quite good as were all the meals during our stay. The staff were really unwelcoming apart from Chris the barman. Even if you tried to be friendly and even use a little on the language you were met with grunts and sighs. No smiles at all. The bar served drinks during the day mostly in plastic cups even though glasses were available. I had a cocktail which was already made and stored in a pepsi bottle in the fridge (Pinacolada) it was flat just tasted like a pineapple juice and looked the same. I went back to the bar and the barmaid went to serve my drink in the same glass i asked for another and she glared and tutted at me. The pool was warm somedays and freezing on others and you shared it with ;local children having swimming lessons. The children were jumping in and splashing guests as they tried to swim. The jacuzzi was freezing all the time. We had a blocked toilet which leaked on to the floor and we found other guests to have the same problem. we were told by reception to use a towel to claean up the mess as no one was available to resolve the problem. We had to use the toilets near reception until the folowing day at 10.30am when a man with a mop turned up to sort out the problem. We didnt feel relaxed the alcohol was of very poor quality accross the board. On the whole we were very disappointed as were a lot of the guests there at the same time as us.

Room Tip: We paid an extra £124 for a Sea-view room. Balconies all the same, ver small just enough room for tw...

“About the location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This may have already been told (and probably not one time), though the hotel itself
brings about a bit mixed opinions, the location itself is very nice:
1. the hotel terrain is nice green lawns and trees (you can see from pics)
2. stepping out you get to the "avenue" which is actually a center for the whole Peyia region: bars/restaurants, a good jewelry shop etc.
3. beach being pretty close, though not too impressive itself; however one can take
some walking towards Coral Beach Hotel with nice beach, water sports/activities, possible fishing etc.
4. straight road to Paphos by bus

I've preferred to lie on the lawn there at evening hours, though stayed
in private villa 500 m away, - no difference if it was 5 km because of having a very good
bicycle - as it was refreshing and pretty interesting to watch the activities
there.

“Excellent value for money we thought”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I went to The Crown Horizon with my daughter for seven days from 4 December 2011.
We had a very nice holiday and I can't fault this hotel, we went all inclusive and it was excellent value for money. The room was clean with small balcony, though my daughter thought it was a bit on the cold side for her. It had TV and nice bathroom.

The selection of food was superb and it was help yourself, so you could chose your
favourites. Every day you had a choice of meats, fish, veg and all types of salad. The wine was nice and did not taste watered down, you could have as much wine as you liked. The coffee again was very nice. You could get any drinks and snacks at the bar is you wanted. Breakfast was English or continental. There were also some themed nights with pasta, curry, moussaka etc.

There wasn't a lot to do in the area so we stayed in the hotel at night, they varied the
entertainment, there was bingo most nights but we did a few quizzes which were
entertaining. There were also the inevitable Greek dancers who were infact very good.

The gardens were nice and well kept.

We visited the spa most days, the pool was pleasant and warm. We also visited the
sauna and steam room and my daughter had her feet cleaned by some small fish!
There is also a gym and a hairdressers.

There is a bus into Paphos town which is quite cheap, you can even go to Limasol.

Overall we had a lovely time and you couldn't get anything in the UK for this price and
a bit of winter sun is always welcome!

Room Tip: Rooms at back of hotel are quieter.
