we arrived and guess what ?? the usual happened, we are fully booked and you have to go to our sister hotel paphos gardens it's only 5 more minutes says the receptionist my A**e it is try another 20-25 mins the whole point of booking there was we have been around that area before and know the location well if we had wanted to stay in the middle of nowhere I would have managed to book that myself. I complained straight away and were moved the next afternoon. In our 10 day stay this happened to holiday makers all day every day from all different countries its a disgrace.

When we book a holiday we are always looking for VFM having a family of five it can get a little expensive.

When looking at the Basilica we read all the reviews and to be honest we could have been swayed either way on booking here as people either liked it or didn't. The one deciding factor that swung it was the location to the harbour, attractions and all the restaurants.

Having know been I must say we were more than delighted with the complex and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

The rooms are functional if a little out of date but hey we only ever sleep there anyway plus we were upgraded from a two to a three bed apartment on arrival.

The staff, especially on reception, were friendly and chatty and the pool was just what we needed after a long hot day and a good size supermarket directly opposite for all those bits and pieces you need.

If you are booking for a family give a serious look at the Basilica

I booked this hotel as it was only 5 minutes away from my boyfriend and his family - they booked earlier. When I got to the Basilica, they told me someone else was in my room and I would need to be moved to another hotel - 30 minutes away. Now as a young girl going to Cyprus for the first time, I don't think this was very acceptable. The manager at the Paphos Gardens hotel was rude and I didn't enjoy my stay. It was miles away from my boyfriend and there were ants all over my floor. I moved out after one night of staying there and we had to pay out for another hotel - Louis King Jason which was fabulous. I am currently looking into getting a refund but everytime I send an email of complaint explaining my circumstances, I get - We hope you enjoyed your stay with us. . . ect. I will be pursuing this further.

We were booked in here but told to go to the Paphos Gardens which was an OK place but not as convenient as the Basilica. Does any one know what happened? 16 other families had been turned away to Paphos Gardens. The reps were hopeless and reception knew nothing and we have had 2 different excuses since we came home. Any ideas please.
