Have just returned from 11 nights at the King Jason Apartments and it is true what everyone has said......it was lovely! The reception and bar areas were spotless and lovely and cool (much needed when temps are 34+ outside - not that was a problem either!). The outside bar area was really lovely and made it feel like that you were somewhere quite tropical. Would recommend the cocktail and wine tasting evenings that Andreas (the manager) puts on....a lovely gesture along with the brandy and honey left in the rooms on arrival and departure. The rooms are quite adequate and I must say having spent most holidays since having children sleeping on various put u ups in lounges, the sofa beds were most welcoming and provided a good night's sleep. The air con is noisy however is much needed and didn't seem to keep us awake that much. Everything is catered for even hairdryer, iron and a brolly!!! The pool area is lovely, the most comfortable sun beds ever and it made a pleasant change to have no loud Euro pop blaring out during the day. The staff were lovely, very polite and helpful and always had a smile on their faces. There are lots of cats but they are well looked after and to be honest just seem to flop about sleeping all the time. We were on a self catering basis so cannot comment on the restaurant food, however if the lunchtime menus were anything to go by I would think it was lovely. The food that we did have was very good and huge portions, however it is a little pricer that other places we have been to but the quality was by far superior. The supermarked on site was great for doughnuts for elevenses and ice creams but we tended to go to the others outside for a large choice for breakfast/lunch - again the locals more than helpful if you need anything. The residential location was also pleasant as it meant there were no groups of people coming home in the v early hours making loads of noise. It was lovely to get up in the morning and go for either a gentle jog down to the harbour and watch all the locals going about their business or just have a lovely quiet swim in the welcoming waters of the pool before everyone else was up and about. As for the walk to the harbour, it does only take about 15/20 mins at a very gentle stroll and is worth it for all the lovely restaurants to choose from. Have never had so many choices and the most fantastic meals and being mostly pedestrianised you were able to sit outside and watch the world go by. Can recommend the Seagull at the bottom of the hill at the start of the harbour, also Demetrias has good local cuisine along with traditional entertainment most evenings......a lovely Italian restaurant which is opposite the Baywatch bar and if you sit there on Fri/Sat evenings you can people watch all the locals coming out! All choices are catered for (I won't mention the English influence but if that's what you like then even you are catered for!!!) Although the Euro is not good at the moment, eating out was not as expensive as I had imagined. In fact I would say that it is the best we have eaten out over the years at probably the same price.......it really depends how much you are prepared to pay.......our cheapest meal for four was 40 euros with free wine and the most expensive was 95 euros but that was for the works and we got to see Karen Hardy from Strictly Dancing thrown in!!!! To be honest I actually found the every day things like bread, milk, bottles of Coke etc to be quite expensive so if you are a true self caterer you shoud be aware that the cost of living appears to be higher that than some of the other med areas. Must also recommend the water park at Limassol (Fasouri) well worth a visit. Massive big slides along with some lovely pools to swim in, loads of sunbeds and amazingly no queues for the rides!!!! We didn't sit down once whilst there (well only to eat our lunch)!! Overall cannot fault either the apartments or the place itself. Having spent the last 20 plus years visiting various countries, the atmosphere at the apartments is the most relaxing I have known (apart from Cuba) and the resort itself is very cosmopolitan. If you want the traditional it is there but if you want the bright lights and the loud music it is also there. We hope to go back again to the welcoming King Jason sooner rather later.
