“Christmas & New Year 2011”

This was our 26th time at the Alexander the Great hotel after our 25th in October/November 2011 and our visits get better every time. The staff are first class, the food is exceptional and Michel, the Executive chef is very professional and a credit to the hotel.
The gala meals and the entertainment at Christmas and New Year were fantastic. We have to say it was one of the best Christmas' and New Years we've ever had. Our stay was for 14 nights but it seemed like we were there for a month!
The entertainment team have to be the best the hotel has ever had, they are true professionals and give 100% every day. Their shows were brilliant and they should be very proud of themselves. Well done Darren, Katie, Royah, Daniella and Milly.

Congratulations Costas and all your staff for giving us a Christmas and New Year we will never forget. See you again soon.

We stayed in Paphos for 3 weeks in the Aloe Hotel across the road from the Alexander the Great Hotel but it was so terrible we spent all our evenings the the Alexander Hotel. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and the entertainment team made our holiday bearable. The music show each evening was wonderful with great singing and excellent dancers. Darren the compere was an excellent singer and great entertainer. We had coffee every afternoon in the comfortable lounge and were made so welcome by all the staff even though we were not staying there, not like across the road where the staff were very rude. If we every go back to Cyprus this is where we will stay.

“Even better than expected”

Stayed here 7th to 14th December. We chose the Alexander because we had stayed 3 times before so we knew it was a top quality Hotel. We had previously only stayed on a B&B basis, but this time we went on the half board option. We were certainly not disappointed. First of all the rooms are a little dated, but are extremely comfortable and well appointed. The food options were fantastic, 3 nights were buffet style, 1 night cyprus night, I night al a carte with waiter service and the other 2 nights we dined in the Italian Restaurant. We also had the option to dine in the Japanese Restaurant which we didn't fancy although when we spoke to other guests they said it was lovely. The entertainment team were great as well, well done Darren and the girls.

Room Tip: Try and avoid the rooms on the road side facing the disco which can get noisy

“Great indeed!”

We stayed in Alexander The Great Beach Hotel for Christmas in 2011. We loved everything about this hotel. The room we had was overlooking the sea (definitely recommended to pay extra for that) and it was quite spacious, well equipped and clean. Its only lucked tea and coffee facilities, so we brought our own. We were on half board, but it was in fact half board plus, which added to our main meal a glass of vine and bottle of water. The restaurant was high standard and food was exceptionally good, including Christmas dinner, which offered perfectly cooked roast beef, pork, turkey, veal, lamb, chicken, salmon, rabbit plus lots of other interesting dishes.
Christmas day was well organised. We had entertainment from the morning carols singing till late night musical show. In fact, there was an excellent floor show every night in hotel bar.
The gym has got all the latest equipment and indoor pool was very warm. The service from reception to housekeeping to the restaurant was always friendly and welcoming.
Overall we couldn't recommend this hotel more highly.

Room Tip: Room with the sea view

“Amazing hotel, amazing wedding, loved every minute!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Myself and my partner visited Alexander the Great in November 2011 to get married and also had other family members staying at this hotel. We arrived in the late evening after a very short coach ride from the airport which made a change from being the last to be dropped off and we arrived to the most beautiful reception/foyer and welcoming staff. We were given a fruit cocktail each whilst we filled out our information forms which was pleasant. We were given a complimentary room upgrade as part of our wedding package with a partial sea view which was awesome but if you can get a full sea view room then wow what a view. Our family even got rooms adjacent to us with adjoining doors which was really handy especially on our wedding day and was a really nice touch. We had a fruit basket, flowers, sparkling wine etc on arrival into our room which was part of our wedding package but presented so nicely. The rooms were very spacious with every facility you could wish for although we were a little shocked about the charges for using the fridge and tea and coffee facilites we felt at the price we had paid to stay in this hotel these things should have been provided free of charge. The bathroom was lovely and there was plenty of wardrobe space. The hotel location is fantastic being right on the beach with those fantastic views and nobody overlooking you at all and also such close access to the harbour which was a really nice walk around the coast path. The food was amazing with the different themes every night in the main restaurant and even though it was a buffet style it still felt very 5*. The breakfast was amazing with every choice under the sun and being half board plus was a fab idea as you still had unlimited fruit juices and teas and coffees with your breakfast and lunch and they do give you bottled water along with your drink choice with your evening meal which we weren't expecting. The allocated sun bed system is genius and really worked fab fab fab idea! The indoor and outdoor swimming pools were both very clean and ideal sizes. Some family members had treatments from the spa which although was a little pricey were well worth the money so i'm told. The rooms were kept spotless with a daily clean and nice little chocolate treats left on our pillows. The entertainment team were amazing which was fronted by Darren (what a lovely guy) they were all really friendly and chatty and always put on a great show. They did day time entertainment which included things like bowls and archery and had evening entertainment every night which included the quizes and singing and dancing etc and they were all very good. I would defintely reccommend travelling by bus whilst going around Paphos, the bus stop is literally just outside the hotel on the main road and only cost €2.00 euros per person for unlimited travel all day although they do cram the people on so if you're claustrophobic then i'd give it a miss. The drinks at the bar were quite pricey but there was a huge choice and we were given crisps and nuts with each of our orders. All of the staff at this hotel made our holiday they were all so friendly and went out of their way to help us with everything possible. We had the most amazing wedding at Alexander the Great and everything was perfect but we did have a few things that we were expecting to get that we didn't but that wasn't the fault of the hotel. They went out of their way to make sure we had the perfect day and it was truly special. We would reccommend this hotel to anybody and if we could afford it we would definitely return.

Room Tip: If you can afford a sea room then go for it, what amazing views!
