This is my favourite holiday destination of all time. Ideally situated between two busy resorts, Paphos and Coral Bay, both of which are easily reached by public transport, buses and taxi's. But if you want less hassle there are plenty of friendly family run restaurants and tavernas in close walkable distance from the Hotel.
Helios Bay is a modestly sized, extremely friendly family run hotel. If you are a returning guest or a first time stayer you will be impressed by the welcome you receive from Nicos and Loucas.
I have now been frequenting Helios Bay for 11 years (not bad for someone who doesn't like to go somewhere twice) and see returning guests year after year, which speaks volumes in itself.
I have stayed here at different times of the year. April has been the coolest period (and the only time I've ever seen rain there). The season is not fully up and running, but there is still plenty to do. If you like the heat August is absolutely scorching. October was cooler than the August, but warmer than April.
If you decide to stay here during the summer make sure you go to their BBQ/Quiz and Karaoke night. Excellent value, great food and a fun night.

“Good value for money”

We decided to have a January break in Cyprus in the hope of seeing some brightness and sunshine. We usually go to Protaras but wanted to see what Paphos was like. We didn't get an awful lot of sunshine, but got out and about and had gone prepared for mixed weather, so no problem. The Helios Bay Hotel is very good value for money. It is in need of some updating, which they are doing at the moment. We had not paid a fortune, so were not expecting too much, so we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are adequate for your requirements and very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. We had a self catering studio apartment that overlooked the sea and the views were wonderful. The pool and pool area seemed nice, but we were not expecting to use it in January.
The bus stop is right outside of the hotel and for 2 euros you can travel around all day and as they run every 15 minutes until midnight, they are very good value for money. We visited several places of interest during our week, Nicosia, Limassol etc. and found that travel was very easy and cheap. Quite a few of the shops and restaurants were closed as we expected in January, but the ones that were open, gave a very good service and were reasonably priced.
The restaurants opposite Helios Bay Hotel were both open and gave a particularly warm welcome and the food was excellent, so do give them a try! A really fantastic holiday and would be very happy to go again if the chance arises.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view or pool view. The studio rooms do not have balconies, but have patio doors and w...

We stayed at the Helios Bay in July 2011 for 14 nights. The booking had been last minute and I had read all the reviews so was looking forward to our stay and I certainly was not disappointed. The apartments are large and spotlessly clean, simply furnished and have all the requirements you look for in a holiday apartment. The beds are very comfortable,I requested extra pillows on arrival which were provided straight away. The reception staff were always polite and helpfull,The maid service was excellent. These apartments are family run with the owners taking part in the weekly barbecue night. The grounds are large going right down to the sea and are well kept and maintained. The pool area was cleaned every day, with an excellent pool bar serving food and drinks from early morning till late.We enjoyed our holiday at the Helios so much we have already booked to return in 2012

“absolutely fabulous”

we visited Helios Bay in September. Our 10th trip. Absolutely fabulous. As usual everything was perfect. Nicos and Loucas were fantastic as usual and could not do enough for you.It is not very often you go on holiday and the owners of the hotel and their family come and sit and drink with you. we have made some fantastics friends. We love Cyprus and Helios Bay and think of it as our second home.
Rooms have recently been refurbished and although basic have everything you need. All the staff are amazing rooms are cleaned 6 times a week to a very high standard. Bria, the pool barman was absolutely great. He remembered us from last year and looked after us very well he is an asset to the hotel. There are several hotels within the vacinity but our favourite was The Harmony Restaurant which is about half a mile from the hotel on the way to Coral Bay and also Sophies Restaurant in Peyia which do an absolutely amazing Carvery. We cannot fault Helios bay or Cyprus as a whole and will continue to visit as often as We can.

“Nice Hotel pity it was so quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We stayed at the Helios bay Hotel, situated between Coral Beach and Paphos it has the best of both worlds. The hotel is bright and clean though slightly dated. Our apartment had a balcony (some dont, neither do they have a terrace) overlooking the pool and out over the sea.
Sunsets exceptionally lovely, but it was a bit chilly given the time of year we went to sit out much. The rooms were spotlessly clean and linen changed regularly as were the towels.Bins daily. They were equiped with enough utensils for us...the downside was the hob. One small one large ring and it took 45 mins to come to a simmer when we wanted boiled eggs.
We ate out except for one night when we crossed the road at the front of the hotel and got an Indian take away from Poppydoms. Expensive but tasty and too much to eat for us.
The restaraunts near by are expensive but with the exception of Sienna we had good portions. Sienna's food is lovely but we could have done with more.My hubs had chicken in sauce which came in a terracottta dish with a small side dish of veg. The veg consisted of one finger each of courgette and aubergine, one cauliflower floret and a very small portion of saute potato slices.
I had cod bake and the sauce was lovely but i would have liked more than five small cubes of fish. i had the same veg ecept i had a very small tower of the saute potatoes on the plate. Staff were lovely shame the food let it down.
there are a few places to eat nearby and a couple of small supermarkets if you need anything.
Buses are every ten mins jut outside the hotel. Two euros for a day ticket you can use again and again in the same day, excellent value.
The whole area was quiet and it seems not so many have visited the island this year, indeed our hotel was very quiet. The pool bar closed at 3pm and the 24 hour bar inside was never open, this meant no one gathered to chat. the people who had the hotel only spoke to us once, they were hardly seen in fact.
All in all it was nice, plenty of loungers by the pool and a small kiddies pool too, all very clean.
Good for families or older couples.

Room Tip: If you want a balcony ask for one, some rooms have none. Ground floor rooms have a terrace but thos...
