“Beautiful hotel but sparse and bare rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Visiting Cyprus I chose Paphos as my first step, stayed at the Elysium with my son in a sea facing deluxe room for 4 nights. While the hotel is beautiful from outside and in the lobby area as well as in the swimming pool area its rooms require an uplift. Frankly the price we paid for a 5 star property holiday was way above the quality of rooms we got in that hotel. Maybe the suites are better but i feel the rooms could be improved upon. First the fridge hardly worked. The soft drinks we bought from outside were always slightly above room temperature when we'd keep them in the fridge. The rooms have no rug, its a bare floor except for one very thin, rug. The bathrooms were simply average.
The hotel breakfast was however great, a lot of choice in a perfect garden type setting with the seating area spilling over into the verandah. At the time of our holiday there were many tourists and vacationers so the place was often full. We only had two meals at the hotel besides breakfast, one room service, another a sandwich or so, it was nice but nothing wow.
The beach is sandy in some parts but was very full as was the pool area except in the evenings. A lot of topless sunbathers which is probably common in Cyprus but may cause some worries for more conservative travelers esp those with families.
The location of the hotel though a bit far from the port and town and town centre is close by the ruins of the monasteries and is also a few metres away from the bus stop so one can get a bus day pass and use this to go around. Lots of small restaurants and pubs close by so one can avoid eating at the hotel at 5 star prices. Our next stop was Le meridian Limassol which though much older had far better rooms and bathrooms. Paphos is great and offers some good tour options and shopping.

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms offer good view but found them to be a bit too bare for my liking, fridge does not...

This was an amazing experience and location as myself and my Fiancee prepared to marry in Peyia.
We were accomodated in the Royal Courtyard in a Royal Villa with amazing views out to the Med, we were woken every morning by wonderful birdsong.
Elysium = Paradise
Paradise = Elysium

Room Tip: The Royal Courtyard Villas are very well presented and look immaculate, however for a more enhanced...

“Nice family hotel, best place in Paphos”

We went here over half-term in October and had a very nice stay. Probably not as warm as we would have hoped, but certainly not the hotel's fault! The hotel arranged our pick-up from the airport and the ride is quick and easy. Elysium looks very nice both outside and inside, and we definitely saw a few weddings while we were staying there. The pools are fun, but FREEZING cold and it was tough swimming because it was so cold. There's a waterslide next to the kids pool which our little one enjoyed, but there really isn't much of beach. We swam in the indoor pool a couple times as it was slightly warmer than the outdoor pools. The breakfast buffet is fantastic and has lots of options. Did not care for the lunch restaurant closest to the beach as it was expensive and not very good. We went into Paphos most nights for dinner as there seemed to be more options and it was easy to get back and forth. We used a babysitter several nights (Sylvia I think, she also works at the concierge desk) and she was fantastic, would definitely recommend her! Overall we had a very nice stay and the hotel was lovely, just not sure if we would be in a hurry to go back to Paphos as not sure it's for us

“Wow!!!”

We have just spent a week in the Elysium and what a fantastic week it was. From the moment we arrived, we were treated as VIP s. We were seated in the most amazing foyer we have ever seen, given a lovely refreshing drink and then taken to our room. After being shown round the most beautiful room we realized that we had been given a double room instead of a twin. This mistake was immediately rectified by changing rooms and UPGRADING to a lovely sea-view. This is the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in and we have been in some lovely hotels in the past. All the staff couldn't do enough for us throughout the whole holiday. On to the food - the breakfast was amazing. We were still finding things we hadn't tried on the last day of our holiday. Everything and more that you would want. The evening meals weren't disappointing either, although if you are a plain boring eater, you might not like the Themed International Evenings which changed every night and were delicious. The only criticism we have is the price of drinks which is only to be expected in a 5-star hotel but be warned - the bottled water is almost five euros per smallish bottle and a glass of wine is five and a half. The Elysium is situated in a really good position and it is a lovely walk along the coast into Pathos. We would recommend this hotel to anybody and everybody who likes luxury.

Room Tip: The sea-views are naturally the best but they come at a price. We were upgraded at the expense of t...

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I got married in this hotel and I definitely feel I made the right choice. It is completely beautiful . A little pricie around the pool but it's totally worth the money. Kids club was good, a lovely English lady runs it and the kids love her. Big mamas restaurant just down the road is a must try. The food in this hotel is to die for aswell. Lovely spotless pool area. On the verander at night is amazing, very peaceful place to have a late night drink overlooking the pool and the view of the stars is just impelling ! The Wedding coordinator couldn't do enough for us and the big day just went perfectly. Family and friends fell in love with this hotel and I would absolutely love to return.
