“Superb service and facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Lovely hotel with amazing, green grounds, excellent food especially for dinner, free fast wifi for games and work, lots to do in the near area. We spent most of the time by the pool. They offered cold towels when it was hot and the staff was super nice and helpful.

The rooms at the club and spa area were as in the photos and more updated than in the blue building. Also at the cub lounge free coffee and buscuits in the afternoon and a second option for quiet, light breakfast.

We loved this hotel, will definitely be back in 2012, probably in the spring. Weather in October was excellent for swimming and long walks by the sea near the hotel.

“Five star service and ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

The hotel is a serene , beautiful property with excellent, green and tropical like gardens. The service and most of the facilities are definitely worth its five stars . In addition we found it to be very reasonably priced at the restaurants and bars. The food was superb!! Everything, especially dinner, extremely good and not too expensive for what was on offer. I usually go to five stars hotels of more exotic countries but this was a very pleasant surprise (we canceled egypt last minute). Worth hiring a car fora day and go to this Akamas area (jeep best). Also by the fishing harbours (one near akamas) excellent fresh fish ...allnot more than 15 minutes pleasant drive. I used the gym which is very good and the spa was top, TOP. Wifi was super powerful and everywhere and free. Beautiful sunsets right in front of our room and lots of walks by the seafront on never ending path.

“Super Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We have just returned from 8 days at this hotel. In general we found the staff very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were very clean with bed linen being changed every other day and towels twice a day.We do feel for a hotel advertising as a 5 star that there should be the facility to make tea or coffee if you wish. Having said that, we travelled with our daughter, partner and little grandson and we requested a kettle to ensure he could have his milk and one was provided straight away. The breakfast was very substantial and the waiting staff super. The pool and gardens were very well maintained and the pool staff very friendly - especially Kordelia. There were plenty of sunbeds and you never felt you were on top of other people. Pool towels were included and you were able to change these every day.
We only ate dinner in the hotel on one evening and it was excellent quality and variety.
We had wished for a slightly better location as whilst there were some local restaurants within walking distance, you were on a very busy road with no footpaths and felt quite vulnerable walking out in the evening. Bus stop opposite the hotel which takes you to Paphos or Coral Bay for only 2 euros for all day travel.
All in all we had a lovely break and would recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: All rooms have beautiful sea views - we only saw one type of room so unsure what else was on offer

“Enjoyable holiday but not 5 star”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

We have just come back from a week at this hotel. We stayed at the St George, just along from the Azia last October. The Azia is better in many ways but lets itself down in some areas. The pool and grounds are lovely, the pool side staff very attentive. The pool is very clean. Don't have the Cheeseburger at poolside as it is not beef and we could not get to the bottom of exactly what meat it was! The food generally is excellent both at breakfast and dinner, we were half board.
On arrival we were shown to our room that had broken air conditioning and a safe that would not lock. They moved us to a different room after some persuasion, but initially this had a very bad smell. However, this disappeared soon after the air conditioning was activated. We too were disappointed in the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The TV was not flat screen and there was no DVD player. Congratulations to them though for actually having the hairdryer situated in front of a mirror, but alas no chair! The room was very clean but we did have a room mate, a large cockroach, who was more frightened of us, so we lived happily together for a week, but did advise the staff of his presence.
I agree that the reception staff were not very friendly but the staff in the rest of the hotel, who work really hard, make up for the few miserable ones. Kevin was very helpful along with Kordelia. The chef was excellent and we really looked forward to our evening buffet.
During our stay there was a large financial conference and the canadian military staying. Neither were a problem. The hotel is generally very quiet and relaxing.
The other downside for me was the intense sewer smell at the front of the hotel and the amount of rubbish locally.
Overall we found the Azia suited our needs better than the St George who are more geared up for families. We would not revisit either hotel as we have been to Cyprus twice now and need to move on. We do think that the Azia should either up its game and finalise some extra touches to gain a 5 star rating or down star accordingly to a 3.5 - 4 star. There is a hotel being built next door but it was very quiet during our stay and we only had one day when we heard a cement mixer.

“Fantastic staff - not really 5 star hotel though”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

Had a great holiday at this hotel recently. Most of the staff are wonderful (except miserable lot at front desk but didn't have to see them much thank goodness) and the food is super. To be honest this is a nice hotel but it should not advertise itself as 5 star. It is a 4 star standard and very good at that. It is very good value for money at 4 star. I was disappointed because I was expecting 5 star and for a value for money comparison its a pity.
The reason this is not a 5 star resort if that the place needs money spent on it everywhere. Its services are fine and has a great team of employees.
Not sure if i would return. Perhaps would try another 5 star in the area next time just to compare.
