“Excellent fun filled yet relaxing break”

I stayed here for one week from the 5th October with hubby and 5 year old son and had one of the best holidays ever.

On arrival we were greeted by a friendly lady on reception and were taken by buggy to our room.. We had booked just studio, however we were upgraded for free to a one bedroom appartment which over looked the pool and bar area!!

The room was basic but very clean and spacious. Beds were firm, but we all found them comfortable and slept very well all week. I don't think the towels or sheets were changed much on our stay, but the maids were all very friendly and I'm sure that they would have only been to pleased to provide fresh towels if asked.

The resort is set in massive beautiful gardens, we saw avacados, lime, grapes, sharon fruit and lychees (see if you can find them, they are yummy!) growing. Its a hot country so therefore there is lots of wildlife to be seen as well - large lizards, centipeads, ants, butterflies, scorpions, cockroaches and of course the famous Elia Latchi tarantula. Yes they do exist as I found out while sitting on my sunbed round the pool!! Just yell someone will soon come and get it and put it back where it belongs in the gardens!!!

Lots of daytime entertainment organised by the brilliant Nadia - try archery, boules, darts and water aerobics. My little boy could not wait to spend the morning and afternoon with Alex in the kids club and as it was out of school holidays he had her pretty much to himself. Alex was great with the kids and even came up to me one evening and comment on how much she had enjoyed spending time with my son!

The evening entertainment again organised by Nadia! was things like mini disco for the kids, pub quizzes, kareoke ect and all good fun!! There was a magic show one night and a belly dancer on another night both were good.

We stayed all inclusive and found all the food to be good. Breakfast had all the usual things and you must try the fresh pancakes mmm. Lunch and evening meals were quite similar with a nice choice of greek style cooking which included things like tasty meat stews, lovely Cypriot potatoes in olive oil, moussaka, roast meat, houmous, tatziki, and taramasalata. You would not go hungry and have no idea why anyone would feel the need to eat out (unless you don't like unfussy Cypriot home style cooking?) Snacks were served from the main pool bar at various times of the day, hot dogs, toasties burgers ect, all tasty. Drinks were all good and I think my little boy must have ate and drank his own weight in icecreams and pukka chuckas!!! (the kids have their own non alcoholic cocktail menu!!)

The main pool area was great ( and still warm enough to swim in ) and all very clean, we did however venture down to the beach and harbour a few times. The beach is very rocky so make sure you take you swim shoes. It was warmer in the sea then the pool (strange?) Nice little beach bar to the right with childrens play ground and harbour to the left is worth a wander round. There are 2 more pools on site (one with a nice kids playground) both really nice but we did not spend much time at them as it was out of season and all the action was centred round the main pool!

So to finish a big thanks to all the wonderful staff who really helped make it a memorable holiday and we would love to return one day!

Room Tip: Resort is very hilly in places so ask for a room near main pool if you have buggys or walking diffic...

“Stunning location, terrible food”

We were looking forward to our stay following the reviews, however very very poor.
We stayed here early Oct, had to eat out every evening as the food was disgusting, cold, dried out, greasy. Here is an example of what you have to look forward to; frozen carrots, lamb vindaloo and warm rice left out! Frozen carrots, chips, sweetcorn only veg available daily . The meat was put out at 7pm never changed if you went for a later sitting. Lunch just basic lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and horrible frozen potato wedges and fish fingers. It was so poor. Gave up after day 2 and ate out. All in all very disappointing. The location is stunning, with a decent chef this place could be wonderful. Many staff leaving whilst we were there, chef is a deluded fool who thinks his food is good and he commented as such. We complained 3 times to Dawn the rep, she assured us it would change, in fact it got worse, she wasn't that interested either to be honest. Very limited choice. Breakfast was the ok until the guy who cooked pancakes left and "chef" took over....
The apartments are basic, but clean enough although in ten days we only had beds changed and clean towels once. Which I think is poor.
The taxi drive back to the airport was horrendous, 160km per hour in an old beat up Mercedes, he missed the turning to the airport, TWICE!
We have been put off all inclusive package holidays for life. Never again.
Due to having to spend 70 euros at night for evening meal it was poor value for money. We never eat in every night when all inclusive as like to go out, but at this place we were forced to eat out. All in all poor.

“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

We stayed at Elia Latchi mid October (week prior to half term so not too busy). The weather was pretty good at a warm 26degrees with it being overcast 1st couple of days. The evenings were chilly so pack something warmer.

It was our 1st holiday with our 5 month old baby and so we wanted a holiday to chill out and not venuture too far from the complex. We stayed on an all inclusive package through Olympic.

The good points...
- Lovely well maintained grounds.
- Basic but very clean apartment (we stayed in the larger one with kitchen/lounge)
- Nice pool with plenty of space / beds.
- 5-10min walk to shops and habour restaurants in Latchi.
- Restaurant and Bar in fantastic hilltop position with views over the coast.
- Staff are mainly friendly and helpful.
- Daily activities if you wanted to get involved were fun (and not as we feared over the top / happy-camper style)
- Latchi is a well equipped little habour with supermarkets and fish restaurants.
- Polis is a 45min walk along a costal path and worth a walk to have dinner out in the town square.

Not so good points....
- Food in the complex was for the 1st few days inedible - this improved half way through our stay when the chef returned from his break.
- Breakfast with or without the chef there is pretty much fried / english breakfast based and lacked any fruit or anything healthy/lighter.
- The hilltop location means there are plenty of steps and large hill to get up to main centre of complex. It's not a nightmare but could be a problem for anyone who finds walking hard / wheelchair.
- The beach is not great, but with the pool being lovely no need to leave there.
- We didn't see the spiders, however a guest we did speak to did have one in their room.
- All inclusive isn't quite true as things like iced coffees were not included.
- Entertainment is fine out of season / low season but can imagine it can be a bit full on when the complex is busy....and probably very annoying if you have a apartment near the centre of it all and you want an early night!

Overall we would recommend EL - just make sure the chef is not on hols!

Room Tip: Away from the centre if you want a quieter stay.

“Elia Latchi Holiday Village 2011 review”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

After reading all of the good reviews for this holiday I was really looking forward to a week all inclusive here. When we arrived we were pleasently suprised at the standard of our apartment, very clean and spacious, a bottle of wine was left in our room for us too. Thats where the good review on this holiday ends.
All of the buffet meals were sub standard and un-appetising, I wouldnt have even accepted it in a backstreet cafe.
The daytime snacks were awful. The burgers were dry and tasted that they'de been cooked the previous day,the chips were soggy and cold, the rest of the food...and the menu was extremely limited..was as bad, we ended up paying to eat out every day, however the barstaff were very friendly.
Not a very big choice of restauants in the area but one that we did find was by the harbour and it was called 'Molos Restaurant'..thouroghly recommended.
The adult entertainment consisted of french boules on an uneven ground that was scattered with weeds and games (very few of them) that were more suited to the 1980's
The beach was littered with seaweed and cigarette butts.
The childrens entertainment appeared to be limited to under 5's with a mini disco that consisted again of music more suited to the 1980's.
I shall definately NOT be returning to this place and it's put me off going on an All inclusive holiday again.
To finish off our 'wonderful'?? holiday, on the way back to Paphos airport our coach driver was driving rather fast and we were involved in a crash with a lorry. Adults and children were hurt, most of the windows were shattered, glass showered over us and the driver didnt even call the emergency services(he didn't even know where the first aid kit was on the coach), it was left to a very nice Cypriot man who was travelling in the vehicle behind.
It could have been horendously worse as the coach stopped about 4 feet from a 30 foot drop.
All in all..THE HOLIDAY FROM HELL!!!
