I stayed there for a week in October, and was very happy. The hotel is completely renovated in a modern style, but some minor details are still missing. For example the pool area, which is quite boring (but calm), and we had a hard time finding the right floor/door to the pool area ;) But it's my impression, that they're working on it.

The location, right at the beach front, couldn't be better! When you step out of the lobby, you're right at the end of the long, broad beach promenade with restaurants, cafées, shopping and of course the beach at your fingertips. It is without doubt the best location in Larnaca.

The restaurant has a small buffet and a la carte menu, but with so many restaurants so close, I wouldn't recommend dining there. But the bar/café is quite cosy with airconditioned indoor tables and more relaxed "lounge furnitures" outside.

So: If you're looking for a modern, decent hotel with the best location, go for Sun Hall :)

The uneven reviews are probably attributable to the recent renovations. Though the exterior is unremarkable, the interior is very sleek and modern. The stylish lobby bar is perfectly located on the boardwalk along the beach. We stayed only one night, but found the room to be comfortable. The best part was waking up to an amazing view of the sea. I downgraded the hotel's service score based on the fact that we asked the front desk to call a cab for us to go the airport, but they simply told us to walk outside and find one ourselves. That's hardly customer service.

Advertised as a 4 star! This is by no mean a 4 star, a 3 at best, in fact one of the stars on the name plate outside had fallen off as if to highlight this fact (it was stuck back on with selotape during our stay)! The breakfast was terrible, although a fair selection of food is available, the quality and presentation of the food being that of a 1 star. No point in having a large selection of food that is inedible... The breakfast room is also completely uninviting. The bedrooms where generally good, although with very bland decoration (modernism!!!). The bed mattress was very comfortable which was to be expected since they are still practically new. Apart from the view (which i obviously charged extra) there are much better options in the town for cheaper, this hotel does not represent good value for money in my humble opinion!

As many other contributors have noted, the Sun Hall hotel was given a thorough facelift a couple of years ago. This was done with taste and at some expense, with the result that the whole hotel now has a bright, light, modern and attractive look. There is a sense of style, if not luxury, throughout the public areas and rooms.

Situated at the top end of Larnaca's not-particularly-attractive seafront opposite the marina, the hotel is well placed for an exploration of everything that this town has to offer. Close to the airport, this means you can begin your holiday pretty quickly. Hotel staff were welcoming and helpful throughout. There is an open bar/public area on the ground floor and a bright breakfast lounge on the mezzanine.

Rooms are large, bright, well and attractively furnished. Flat-screen TV, sitting area, and for sea-front rooms, a balcony with table and chairs. Lovely views over the marina, although the sun moves off the balcony quite early. Sea-front rooms have the disadvantage of noise from the busy esplanade road and from goings-on in the endless cafes and bars below, and noise insulation is not great. Curtains do not have black-out linings, so expect an early wake-up call. There is only payable wired net access in the rooms, although free wi-fi works well in the public areas. No tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom furniture is modern and stylish, with the result that some functionality is lost. Flat-bottomed toilets may look good, but....

The hotel has a pleasant, unheated pool offering some privacy, but it has no views over anything interesting. The sea is just across the road anyway.

The time to stay in this hotel is in the next few years. Despite the renovations there are worrying signs of things starting to go wrong or come loose, and the MDF in bedrooms, quite smart at the moment, will soon show its age. But overall I would recommend this hotel without a doubt.

There is no car park, but a free unsignposted public car-park behind the police station, where there is always space, will be the place to leave the hire car you sensibly rented to avoid the outrageous taxi cartel (the return taxi fare will pay for 4 days' car rental!)There is bizarrely no airport shuttle bus - thus helping the taxis to earn even more business.
