I have just returned from a walking holiday, and our group of 16 of us stayed in this hotel, which is on a hillside about two miles above the centre of Kyrenia The grounds and buildings are very pleasant and well maintained with pleasant outdoor sitting areas. There is an indoor and a (rather cold in October) outdoor pool. The food in the evening is good and if you are in Kyrenia for a few days it is certainly worth considering eating here at least once. The breakfasts could have been more varied and the only coffee on offer was Nescafe but we were told by our guide that is pretty standard in hotels in Cyprus. (There is Turkish coffee available for example through room service). We had a good room with a private balcony looking east to the mountains and sea. There was some traffic noise from the newly built Kyrenia by-pass that has been routed close to the hotel with traffic going up and downhill. We couldn't hear this if we had the window shut and/or the air con on but if you are very sensitive to noise you would be well advised to ask for a room looking onto the pool. There was the occassional mosquito when we had the windows open at night and I recommend the hotel considers providing some anti mosquito devices. (I was also bitten in the evening in the reception area). Others have commented that you pay for internet if you use wifi which is true, but there is a free computer by reception. The staff were very obliging and helpful and the ginger cat and her little kitten were enjoyed by most guests. One consideration is that the new by pass on has been constructed without thought to pedestrians, It seems to have no nearby crossing over or under it and no continuous pavement. For this you area unlikely to want to walk into the town. This was somewhat ironic given that we were on a walking holiday! Almost certainly you will find yourself resorting to taxis but they are inexpensive, quick and plentiful. Overall the Onar Village is a good choice.
