We booked our holiday with CYTA and as we were travelling on scheduled flights, realised that we were in relatively cheap accomodation. However, the Bogaz Hotel website promises a comfortable stay, which, in the end is what we had! We started off with a room at the back of the hotel overlooking rubbish. It had no kettle and no hairdryer (both items supplied according to website) and two walls were half painted. For £30 we upgraded to a sea-view room which was much better. The view was stunning. The kettle and hair-dryer were quickly supplied. The pools were not ready to be used but we had a car and there are some fantastic beaches around the peninsula so the pools did not matter. However, It should really be made clear at the time of booking that not all facilities will be available eary in the season.
Potentially the hotel is on a superb site. Yes, you do have to cross the main Famagusta road to get to the restaurant, BUT how often can you have breakfast virtually on the beach watching the fishermen bringing in their catch? The position of the tables just above the beach is second to none! There is a lot of rubbish about but that is how it is in places like Greece and Turkey. If you want neat perfect gardens etc. then you are in the wrong place unless you are prepared to pay a great deal more for it. The staff at the hotel and in the restaurant are friendly and helpful. If you want something ask and they will endeavour to provide it. Yes, there is certainly room for improvement and with money and effort it could be a more attractive hotel but we all (3 couples - 60 ish in years but never really grown up!) all had a lovely holiday! If you stayed in youth hostels as a teenager and camped with you r own children , then the Bogaz Hotel is probably O.K. for you!!
