Arrived late Saturday evening. No rep to greet us. Signed in and was showed our room. Only one light was working. The door of the room had been forced open at some time and had been patched up with a piece of hardboard. The door handle fell off when trying to open the door. The beds where on the floor with no legs. There where no coat hangers in the one wardrobe. I asked the Manager about coat hangers and the lights. He brought up 5 hangers and replaced all the bulbs. One bulb was broken in the holder so he pulled the whole fitting from the ceiling and then held the light fitting back in the ceiling with toilet paper. The bathroom floor and the shower was covered in various spots with black mould and the taps where silver copper coloured through lack of cleaning and dripping water. The plug socket in the bathroom was badly fitted and gaps where around and in between the tiles. The mini bar had no drinks only a 1/2 eaten apple. We decided to go for a drink in the hotel bar which was across the main road on the swimming pool. We noticed that an area that used to be a dinning area had been left to rot and was covered in rubble and broken chairs and tables.
A karaoke session was in full swing and we had a couple of drinks and decided to see what the place looked like in the morning. On returning to our room I phoned the rep and she said that she would speak to the Manager in he morning. In the daylight, the carpet looked and felt dirty and had cigarette burns. The curtains over the patio windows only covered 3/4 of the window. The balcony was dirty and stained and was covered in water caused by a broken pipe that was leaking water from above. The balcony railngs where broken and fastened together with wire. The patio window was covered in brown stains caused by an overgrown tree/bush that was on the balcony. There was no table, just two fithy plastic chairs. The lights had fused during the night and when the Manager was told he said that we had to be careful where my wife plugged in the hairdryer.
We went to the so called hotel resturant a short way passed the pool bar. Breakfast was a cup of coffee or tea. One plate with one egg, 3 pieces of wafer thin cheese, 2 pieces of cucumber and a slice of tomato. The bread was mini size and hard and stale. We spoke to the rep by phone and she said the Manager was going to speak with us. We went on the beach that had loads of broken sun shades and beds. The beach was dirty and covered in last nights discarded beer bottles and rubbish.
The owner came to see us on the Monday morning and when showed the state of the rooms he said it was typical Turkish and he would move us into another room. When showed the room it was slightly better but we declined his offer after taking into consideration the hotel food and general decay of the building.
3 other points, the hotel had an indoor pool that had stagnant water and smelt, the indoor fire escape in the corridor facing our room was blocked with bed frames and mattresses and other rubbish from the above floor and down to the ground floor. The Hotel bar near reception did not contain any drinks and was closed. We where moved that afternoon to another hotel nearer to Famagusta. We where later to find out the the hotel had been told to close and had no insurance to accommodate guests. There are other events I could recall but I think you will get the picture from the above comments. The village of Bogaz was run down and only had 2 resturants that where opened and they where expensive, not the way the brochure descibed the location and the Hotel. This is one hotel to MISS !!!!
