“Handy little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

Liechtenstein isn't the biggest country in the world and given that Vaduz (the capital) only has about 20 hotels to choose from we didn't spend too much time looking for a hotel. I don't think many people head to Liechtenstein for a holiday - rather they pass through, or divert there to get their passport stamped - as we did.

We had a lovely 24 hour stay at the Landhaus am Giessen - the room was a decent size and had a balcony looking out towards the city/church. The bathroom wasn't large - but perfectly fine for a short stay.

Best of all - they have their own indoor pool - which was very welcome - given that the temperatures must have been in the high 30's outside. The pool is a decent size - not a standard 25/50m - but certainly as big as most UK health clubs.

The breakfast was plain and simple - but the rolls were nice and so was the tea/coffee.

Parking was excellent - we had our car and trailer parked at the back of the hotel in the shade so it was lovely and cool in the morning.

I wouldn't have a problem staying there again - but don't intend to visit Liechtenstein again so probably won't.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear.

“Comfortable stay, friendly staff in Vaduz”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

My girlfriend and I stayed at Landhaus am Giessen for two nights, had a room with a balcony that overlooked the street. The front desk and hosts were very sweet, friendly, and provided some nice recommendations for restaurants in Vaduz. The room was comfortable, with a small TV (didn't use it), simple bathroom and shower, and a balcony with a couple of chairs and loads of flowers across the balcony as well. We used the swimming pool to refresh after a day of hiking, and were the only ones in it. The breakfast was standard, but good for the start of your day - fresh breads, croissants, jams, selection of meats, cheeses, some cereal, a couple of juices.

This hotel is not five-star luxury, but a friendly, clean place that we enjoyed. Would recommend to folks looking for a comfortable, basic place to stay in Vaduz. Very convenient base, 8 minute walk to the center of town, multiple bus stops nearby as well, easy to get to other towns in this nice, small country.

“Skip Leichtenstein All Together - This Hotel Definitely NOT Worth $200 a Night!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

They say in the guidebook that if you drive too fast without putting on the breaks from Switzerland toward Austria that you will zoom right through Leichtenstein all together since it is only 59 square miles. Well, I'd say put the pedal to the medal and skip this tourist trap of a place with very high prices, lousy service in the restaurants and less than good accomodations. This country is living off of its "quaint" reputation as the last bastion of the Holy Roman Empire but there really isn't anything to see.

This hotel is about an 8 to 10 minute walk into town with small, not well outfitted rooms. Not even the usual hot water pot and for a spot of afternoon tea or coffee. The beds are not terribly comfortable, the bathrooms need a face lift and breakfast is mediocre.

Save your Euros for Austria and drive a bit further to Innsbruck for some real charm!

Room Tip: No best room in this inn.

“A quaint little hotel in a quaint little country”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2010

Was only in the hotel for one night and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

The welcome on arrival was brilliant and after taking the time to explore the tiny capital of this tiny country we (my father and I) briefly returned to our room before heading off into the shadow of the alps to watch Wales take on Liechtenstein at the Rheinpark Stadium.

On our return to the Landhaus - following a stroll through the quiet streets of Vaduz after seeing our team win 2-0 - it was straight to bed and might I add what a comfortable night sleep it was.

The room wasn't massive, but just about the right size for two people who weren't going to be spending too much time in there.

The beds were comfortable and clean, bathroom spacious with a power shower, and the view of the Prince's Castle to the right and mountains to the left really made for the perfect fairytale setting.

Breakfast the following morning - continental - was enjoyed with fellow Welsh fans before the short walk to the bus stop in order to pick up our transport to Sargans for the train back to Zurich.

Just one night in this quaint little hotel (which locks its doors at 10pm, but don't worry, you are given a key to get in) has persuaded me to stay here again.

“Not a 3 stars hotel”

I was very disappoint with the hotel...The walls are paper thin. Can hear the other guest walking though the halls. I wouldnt classified this hotel as a 3 stars.
