“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

This hotel is excellent, within walking distance of the town centre, the room was modern, comfortable and superb bathroom.
We arrived by car which was taken to the hotel garage by the staff and brought back on our departure, it was at the top end of parking charges though!
We didn't have breakfast as that too seemed expensive.
There weren't many restaurants near the hotel so we had to go to the centre of town for our evening meal, we didn't use the hotel restaurant as that too was out of our price range
The internet access in the room was excellent.

“kinda works, kinda doesn't”

I stayed in this hotel numerous times prior to its revamp and the building of the new wing. I was used to staying in the traditional English huntling lodge style rooms. I found those rooms noisy and stuffy, though lovely to look at I never got a good nights sleep there.

This was my first visit back in about 3 years. I had a room in the new wing (access from reception via a walk through the restaurant, which is a bit odd). The room itself was functionaly and self-consciously trendy. Colour palette is neutral enough that this won't date, and certainly will never offend. Bed was comfortable and there was good lighting and storage. Desk space is a narrow desk area sectioned off by glass from the entrance door.

My room was on a corner and actually quite noisy. My main issue is with the bathroom - it is lovely BUT one of those trendy hotel things you see so much at the moment... yes, it is integrated into the bedroom. There is a smoked glass panel between bathroom and bedroom, but no door. And there is no door between the toilet either. Hmmm. I was on my own so not a major issue, but I would honestly not want to find myself in a room like this with a friend or even with a partner. I like my privacy. I think a lot of people are the same. Is it easier to clean? Is there some practical reason for it that I have failed to comprehend? I will be trawling hotel reviews from now on trying to make sure that I avoid such configurations.

Gym was very small but perfectly ample for a single visitor at 6 am. Suspect you would end up queuing for the one treadmill, one cycle, one eliptical machine at any other time.

Breakfast buffet very small but quirky and pleasant - served in the restaurant. And I have to say that staff there were very atttentive and sweet (served me 2 coffees at the same time as I explained I was in dire need and only had a few minutes!).

I would definitely go again and would ask to be in one of these renovated room again as well. But I would only go on my own on business. There should be a symbol on hotel web pages to denote the fact that bathroom is integral to the bedroom. Anyone care to suggest one?!

“I wouldnt stay here again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2011

I dont mind the small boutique hotels but only when they try. The reception isnt welcoming and the staff are even less (whilst the restuarant staff were freindly.) The lounge area is very intimate, you can hear a pin drop and try and get a drink or coffee in there, you are frounded at. I ended up going to the restuarant to get one myself. BTW restaurant seems very good but it is also very expensive which explains why it was so empty. The gym is tiny. Whoever thought about putting a sauna in the gym area which makes it so hot!!!! 2 cardio machines, weights that are so light they are useless and a gismo cable machine, work that one out. Rooms are ok, however my bath was filthy. No wireless in the hotel and in the lounge, one cable to share! Location is not great, 10 minutes away from main centre and is in a residential area. Have been to much better places!

“I'll be back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

The hotel was exactly as advertised - elegant, charming, and very very chic. Also loved the service, which was professional and nice, just the way I like it.
One big (extremely pleasant) surprise was the Mahi restaurant located in the hotel. Friends in Luxembourg had recommended it, and while I normally like eating at 'local' and 'hole in the wall' places when I travel to different countries, I ate there the first night I arrived because we were simply too tired to venture out, and by god, was I glad I did that! I was hooked! I mean, I've been to several Michelin stars in the past year, and this place is really sublime. I'm surprised it doesn't have a star yet.
The food was like works of art, and the tastes even more amazing. I might even venture as far to say it was the best meal i've had in years. By the end of the meal, I had sighed with pleasure so many times, I think my husband was slightly embarrassed by the sounds I was making. :p afterwards, we ate there 3 days in a row.
I'll be back, for sure!!!

“absoutley excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2010

This hotel is the best I have stayed in Luxembourg. I travel there frequently on business and although it shouldn't matter as a solo female traveler you become aware of things you don't consider when travelling with partner/ friends or family. The staff were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast service was good and efficient which is important when you are trying to get out to a morning meeting and dining alone on the suberb restaurant was very pleasant - I had a fantastic meal and nothing was too much trouble.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on business who is tired of big chain hotels - charming
