I stayed one night at Christoph Clomb on a work trip to Luxembourg. The location is pretty good if you arrive by train: an easy 10 minute walk from the railway station and 5 minutes to a main avenue where all the buses stop. It seems quite safe, and there are quite a few restaurants and shops around. The welcome was friendly, and the room clean and spacious. The decor is not what I would describe as a delight; it's very basic, almost dorm-like, and quite dated. I had a twin room and the beds were quite narrow, but firm and fairly comfortable. Huge pillows; why do hotels think pillows must be the size of the planet? The tiny bathroom was pretty ugly, but the shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure, which is not alwas a given. I did expect all this, just like I expected not to find any of the travel necessities you find in better places - you only get a bar soap and a sachet of shower gel - so I took everything I needed with me. But what really let this hotel down in my estimation was the complete lack of sound insulation. I heard people talking in the corridors and next door, my neighbour's taking a shower sounded like they had invaded my own bathroom, ther were what sounded like cleaning noises even late at night, etc... So if you are either a heavy sleeper not bothered by noise, or find earplugs comfortable (I don't) then this is a good, no-frills place to stay one or two nights. I still couldn't help feeling the price was a rip-off, I know Luxembourg is not cheap but still, for me this hotel in a below 100 euro price bracket would be "worth it". At 120 euros, not so.
