As some of the other reviews point out, this is an antiquated hotel. There is some charm remaining, but this is probably not the hotel for a romantic getaway. I traveled for business and selected a low-cost room. The window faced an interior wall, which was a bit depressing. However, I assume that the more expensive rooms would have some amazing views. My room and the hotel common areas were clean, but the area outside my window was full of trash and cigarette butts.
The service was very good. I arrived early but was immediately accommodated. The internet prices are high but the service is easy to use. Overall, I was pleased with the assistance the staff provided.
The hotel’s location is perfect. One direction faces the river valley with the casements visible below. The other direction leads into the adjacent market district. There are many eateries nearby, from cheap fast food to elegant restaurants. A taxi queue is conveniently located in front of the lobby.
The hotel has a bar and restaurant. A breakfast buffet is included in the room rate. The buffet was better than expected and included scrambled eggs as well as the traditional continental items.
I’d recommend this hotel if you are sightseeing on a budget (or on foot). This is also a good choice if you have business in the city and just need a convenient place to sleep. If you prefer more luxury, a more expensive hotel is in order. There are several options in the immediate area. If you have a car, perhaps staying outside the city center is a better option.
