“Very comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011 via mobile

This family run hotel is a reliable favourite of mine when staying in Luxembourg. Old fashioned charm, in the very centre of the city. Room was very warm, bearable when heating was switched off. Reasonable deal, but can't see the need to charge 30 euros for 24 hours Internet when many hotels are now providing this for free. Breakfast was included, nothing special. Croissants a bit past their best.

“old fashioned but good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

An very old fashioned hotel in the heart of the city, very conveniently situated but as I said quite old.
Breakfast buffet is nice, the rooms are spacious - but you expect all this in a 4 star hotel.
The bathroom would deserve an overhaul though. The cracked sink isn't really a good sign for class. The blue colours of the bath-tube, wash-basin, bidet and toilet are a relic from the late sixties, I suppose as well as the yellow tiling with painted tiles strewn in between. The tube definitely would deserve a fix protection and not a curtain and it's very short (150 cm probably). A spacious shower would be much better - and there would be enough room to make a lovely bathroom.
The stores at the windows are outside and with the wind and rain there was during my stay, an audible nuisance all night - again something you wouldn't expect in a hotel of this category.

“Perfect experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Cosy friendly hotel! Very helpful staff. Just see: in spite of being late for the breakfast my husband and I were friendly serviced and one of the staff even went out shopping to provide croissants for us! Amazing! Thank you a lot! In the evening near the fire place we were served with the beautiful tasteful sweeties! The staff is really doing their best to make you feel like Royals!
Great central location! At the reception you will be kindly advised where experienced the best dinner in the city (for example, La Lorraine).
The rooms are well furnished in classic style. In spite of 4 stars the hotel provides bathrobes into rooms.
Breakfast was really nice – eggs, cheeses, yogurt, cornflakes, bread, croissants, self-serve espresso and so on.
Evenings can be spent near the fire place with a glass of Champaign.
Everywhere in the hotel you can feel the Christmas breath due to nice decorations and nice Christmas aromas.

We had a fortune to get acquainted with the owner of the hotel – Madam Cravat, charming woman! Thank you for your work! Wish you and your hotel all the best! With kindest regards...

“to be avoided!”

This hotel is very well located and that is the only good thing about it. As to the downsides: service is poor and often rude. We booked a parking space 3 days in advance, only to learn, when we arrived at 9 pm, that they had “forgotten”. It was Saturday night, it was raining heavily and there was nowhere to park our car. Result: we got a fine, which the hotel first agreed to pay, and in the end did not. During our stay we changed our travel schedule and asked to stay one extra day, to which the hotel agreed. The must have “forgotten” about this as well, and as a result we had to look for an other hotel the day before leaving. The cleaning staff was also highly inefficient. They kept trying to get in to our rooms, despite the “do not disturb” sign on the door. In one case, I forgot to lock myself in the room, and a cleaning lady entered while I was in the shower.
Our room was very small, with an unpleasant smell, and NO natural light, as the window overlooked an extremely narrow courtyard. It supposedly had a queen-size beds, which was however smaller than ordinary queen beds, and completely broken. The bathroom was barely adequate, certainly not a 4 stars hotel bathroom, extras were very limited and internet access ridiculously expensive: 6 euro an hour, irrespective of whether you used your own pc or the hotel’s computer in the business center.
We would have loved to change hotel after day 1; the reason we did not was that all other hotels in the area were full. No wonder the Cravat was not…...

“Poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We pre booked the hotel 1 month in advance. We arrive to be told the room will be smaller than we booked. Well, outside the room was a corridor being redecorated, equipment, furniture, paint, had been left everywhere. We go into the room and walk into a thick smell of smoke and what looks like a £30 b&b. Complaining hasn't helped as the hotel is full and we got the room because we arrived last, at 6pm. I guess bookings don't mean much here.
