Prior to booking I have read several reviews of Yasha Hotel, none of them good. Complaints were mostly on the location (in the middle of a red light district, loud surrounding, across from a strip club, unfriendly staffs, bad room, etc).
I booked anyway since I was traveling alone and was not willing to pay too much for accommodation, and I wasn’t going to be picky about accommodation. I booked two nights of stay via a website with a rate of 55 euro/night. Reasonable for a solo traveler.
The room was very basic room, with a bed, small TV, a desk and a chair. The bed was very small, for a single bed, expect only the size of a bunk. This did not bother me, as I’m very small-sized myself. As for the furniture, imagine the cheapest IKEA furniture one can ever get. They serve the purpose. The room was tiny, a little smelly, think old dormitory room. The shower was basically clean if you don’t check out the corners, or the bottom of the door, where dirt and soup scum tend to accumulate. I give them credits that the shower had good water pressure and very warm water. Additionally, I also appreciate that the heating was very good, given the below-freezing temperatures in Luxembourg during my visit. The room was sufficiently warm. There was a mini fridge and a safe, plus towels and daily room service.
The hotel was located straight ahead of the train station. I arrived on Sunday after 11 pm, expected the streets to be loud and full of drunks. However, it was very quiet, not much was going on. I was thinking, what about the noise complaints? I arrived without problems. My room was fortunately, facing the back of the building. No view for me from the balcony but it was very quiet both nights.
The breakfast was served in a very cold room – without heating! Considering the outside temperatures below freezing point, I could hardly enjoy my breakfast although I was very warmly dressed. The breakfast consisted of cereal (2-3 types), pain au chocolat, croissant, bread (only 1 type!), fruits (only 1-2 type), ham and cheese (one type each), hard-boiled eggs, some jams and butter, juices (apple and orange), milk, and warm beverages tee and coffee (also 1 type each). Not a great variety of selection but if you’re not too picky, yes you can stuff yourself full before heading out for sight seeing. My only disappointment about the food was that there was no toaster, so imagine eating very cold bread (the cold room did not help!). Additionally, the hard-boiled egg was almost ice cold. Nevertheless, considering the room rate I paid, I give it an ok.
The hotel was very close to the train station so very convenient for getting in and out of town. The city center was also within walking distance of approximately 500 m away. The staffs were friendly; I did not encounter any problems.
All in all, for travelers on budget and don’t care for hostel, I think this hotel will be an option. However, if you’re looking for something more comfortable, pay a little more for other options. It is definitely NOT for couples looking for romantic getaways or enjoy quiet nights together.
