We booked a room with an Echternach view for a small supplement which was well worth it - we had a small balcony and the view was superb. The room itself was pretty big, with a quite dated bathroom but a very powerful shower, and separate bath. I have seen photos in their brochure of more modern bathrooms, so maybe they are refurbing slowly.

There is an indoor and outdoor pool, free gym, pool, and table tennis, and outdoor tennis for a small hourly charge. They also offer a free shuttle bus to the village.

We ate in the restaurant for dinner - a bright, spacious room with great views over the lake. Quite pricey, though - my starter was €23 and main course €33. It was very good though, with excellent service.

There was a cocktail bar with a lovely barman which is open pre-dinner, and then he goes downstairs to the English bar, where you can still get cocktails and other drinks.

Breakfast was the usual buffet selection of eggs, cheese, ham, tinned fruit, cereal, bread and excellent croissants.

There were only 20 or so other people staying in the hotel, and the service was exceedingly friendly throughout, with staff speaking a mbixture of English, French and German as required. We plan to go back in the summer months when it will no doubt be busier - hope they can keep it up!
