We landed on a weekday out of season so it was quiet but the staff tell us the place, in fact the whole town, was full at the weekend and we just wouldn't have been able to turn up and find a room.

The staff were most pleasant and we obtained a large triple room for just €89 including breakfast (there were only two of us so this was the twin room rate). The room was huge and modern with TV and mini bar - which was strangely locked.... The bathroom was also a decent size and was clean.

This hotel is clearly built with mass tourism in mind and has it's own pizzeria as well as a restaurant, and is part of an operation including another hotel a short walk up the roan which has a swimming pool which you can use for free if you like. We weren't expecting this and had not packed out speedo's so didn't try it - although we did try the bar in the other place which was nicer than the one at the Petry. There is also a health club in the Petry but this is used at additional cost - we didn't. This mass market appeal is not a bad thing but it may not be what you are looking for.

We dined at the in house pizza restaurant and to be honest it was a bit like faulty towers. The service was slow, we were bothered by flies constantly and I was served a pepperoni pizza without any pepperoni.... Eat elsewhere!

Breakfast in the main hotel dining room was a buffet with a very large spread and selection of different foods. ten out of ten for this part of the experience.

I have rated the hotel excluding the pizza experience as this was not part of the price but was extra - but avoid this aspect!

Four of us stayed here for a night in early October 2011. The staff were universally superb. The could not have been more helpful or welcoming. We were even offered the use of their wonderful penthouse suite at a very favourable rate.

We chose to eat in the small pub attached to the hotel. The staff there were equally friendly and the food was plentiful, beautifully cooked and very tasty. It was the perfect end to a long day in the car.

I could not recommend this place too highly. Not only is the hotel outstanding, but the small town of Vianden is fascinating and the local very imposing chateau is well worth a visit.

I will definitely come back here if I find myself in the area.

We booked this hotel last minute and opted for a penthouse suite as it was only E115 and we decided to treat ourselves! This included free private parking and breakfast. Vianden is a great place with a really nice vibe to it, located on a river in the shadow of a huge castle to which you can get a chair lift up to. The Petry has a fantastic location on this river and serves the best food in town! The room was excellent - huge with great views, the reception staff were the best I've come across - speaking perfect english and with an enthusiasm for the hotel and town. You get free use of the indoor swimming pool at a neigbouring hotel which is worth doing as the pool has a view to the castle. We will be returning next year as there is a nut festival which looks really good fun!!

Upon arrival you have to master a few obstacles. First you have to find either a street-side parking or the hotel parking, then you have to find the reception desk, which is located in a cavernous back room. We were rewarded with a warm welcome and even a choice of rooms. We decided for a backward one and would recommend that. The front rooms are facing the main road which is not that busy but rural traffic in the early morning could give you an earlier wake up than planned. Our room was neat and appropriate sized but no frills at all. The breakfast was a standard buffet selection for houses of this range in a huge dining hall. In general the restaurant seemed to be prepared for big groups, either coming by bus or bike, but probably during daytime. In the evening and for the breakfast the diners were limited to the hotel guests.
