We stayed at Hotel Oranienburg in Vianden Luxembourg in March 07. We paid 192 Euro for one night in a double Grand comfort room (view of castle), with gastronomic evening meal.
Although a lovely space the room is so horribly decorated it could make you cry – unless intensly yellow wallpaper, garish fruit patters on all the soft furnishings and green-blue wicker furniture are your thing. The bathroom is outdated and the few satchets of showergel make you feel like you are being ripped off. Granted all is spotlessly clean and when you stick your head out of the window you have a nice view of the castle.
Although the dining room is also outdated the meal was of a reasonably high standard – classic cuisine, well prepared with little special touches like a sorbet between courses. One would therefore expect a reasonable breakfast, but far from it, it was the worst we have had in a long time. At least this made it easy for us to leave behind the ugly room and surly owner.
In summary, don’t bother to stay at this place, but should you find yourself in Vianden you might want to have dinner or lunch on the terrace.
