Our first visit to Malta. What an experience at the Phoenicia. Nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel special. The accommodation was excellent with every convenience in our room. The dining was wonderful assisted by a super new head of food manager. The guest liaision manageress was always helpful and ready to supply support for the smallest query. Food at the phoenicia is a wonderful experience which is sometimes accompanied by tasteful music. The gardens were a complete joy away from the bustle of Valletta. The hotel was very convenient for transport around the island and across the harbour. We would visited again.

We had an extremely comfortable double aspect room overlooking Grand Harbour. The management appear to have thought of everything to ensure that their guests enjoy their stay. The choice at breakfast omitted nothing. Every taste must have been catered for. Dinner was above criticism. The Palm Court was an extremely comfortable setting in which to relax and the service there was again exemplary. Sadly the weather in February prevented the use of outside terraces or the garden. However, the location was perfect for exploring Valletta and all that the city has to offer. Of course all this comes at a price but one cannot argue if there is nothing to criticize.

This is a lovely hotel, well placed for sightseeing around Malta.
It is right next to the bus station and a short walk from the main street in Valetta.
The staff were outstandingly helpful and pleasant, without exception.
The barman is a cocktail expert and mixes some spectacular cocktails!
The rooms are large and roomy and the beds very comfortable.
Great value for a five star hotel.

This was our second visit to the Phoenicia, we liked everything about the place last year so it was obvious where to stay this time around. It is a majestic place and stands proud in what must be the best location in Malta, (unless you are the sort of traveller that likes cheap lager and kareoke nights). We didn't eat the restaurant in the evenings because there are so many fabulous places hidden down side streets in Valettta so cannot comment on that, but what we saw looked good. The breakfasts were excellant with the "Egg Man" on hand to cook your eggs how you liked. All the staff from top to bottom were curtious, friendly and efficient. Last year the annual "Cat Show" was held in the ballroom which ammused us, but this year twice a week the local "Argentinian Tango" school held a practice/social night which always made a fitting and sophisticated end to the night.(well done). The Phoenicia is 80 years old or thereabouts, so, as other reviewers have said it has got a few knocks here and there but that's the whole charm of the place. Individuality is the name of the game.Guess where we will stay next time we're in town?
