“Exactly as the reviews read - excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We have just returned from a week's stay at The Palace, We booked through Easyjet including the hotel and had a great deal price wise but we were dubious as to what to expect. However, the hotel lived up to our expectations. It is clean and the staff are very helpful. The gym facilities are more than adequate and the indoor pool, albeit small, has a swim jet to make it harder work!! The outdoor pool was not open as it was February, not only that, it is the coldest February ever!!! We hired a car from reception and got a good deal from them also and drove round the island for 4 days including a trip to Gozo on the ferry. Great fun. We paid for an upgrade from a superior room to one on the 8th floor called "The View Suite" and a view is what we got. The hotel is right in the heart of Sliema and everything, including a massive shopping mall, is only a short walk away. The restaurants in the hotel are the buffet on the ground floor which has very nice selection of fresh and tasty food and the Pan Asian on the 9th Floor which, for us, seemed rather overpriced and not particularly authentic. I would recommend this hotel for a really chilled holiday/break.

Room Tip: Anything above 6th floor on the street side of the hotel has great views of the harbour.

“Christmas Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

It was our first time visiting Malta and we were going over the Christmas week. We new we had a five star hotel but as so often happens we dint quiet expect that and to be fair it was above our expectations. Very clean and modern with excellent facility's and food. Its set in a lovely part of Malta with period buildings all around. The staff were excellent and its attached to a sister hotel were you could go for a cheaper drink at night. So would definitely recommend the Palace.

Room Tip: You must book a room with an external view others wise don't bother

“Nice hotel, not quite 5*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We've just come back from a 3 night stay at the Palace. We booked a deal through expedia which was less than £500 including flights from London, so we didn't expect 5*, you get what you pay for. It's smart and clean but looking a bit tired around the edges, the gym and indoor pool are looking a bit shabby.

We had booked a double/twin and were shown to a twin with a balcony on the 2nd floor, it was spacious, seemed ok but we decided to ask for a double, they told us they had no doubles until the next day, but for 25 euros a night they could offer a junior suite on the 6th floor, we had a look and decided it was worth the extra as there was a huge terrace (south facing with great views (room 651)), sun loungers and a king sized bed (although the room was of similar size to the twin we had been shown). You can hear the church bells though, but we didn't mind this. We did think afterwards, that perhaps they did have some doubles available (the hotel didn't seem very full) and they just try to get extra money through upgrades! So specify a double when booking if this is what you prefer.

The aircon in the room would have been too noisy, luckily you don't need it in February!

We also paid extra (12 euros each) for breakfast (a special deal, apparently!), it its worth the extra for breakfast if you have a big appetite but maybe not worth it if you only want something small. There is also a 5 euro per hour wifi charge which is mad!

The pool terrace on the 9th floor looks lovely, and the views from the restaurant and great too. The cocktails we had in the bar on the 9th floor were awful, but maybe we just got the wrong barman.

Taxi tip: don't order a taxi from hotel reception, we paid 8 euros for the privilege!

We had a pleasant stay, there is nothing to dislike about this place but we would probably try somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Room 651 has a lovely terrace with sun loungers with the sun all day, lovely big bathroom and king s...

“Outstanding - a Real Success”

We booked a last minute deal at the Palace which included an upgrade to a Superior room. We were dubious prior to arrival but our concerns were shattered immediately as the
greeting upon arrival was really friendly and helpful.
We were thrilled with the room ( or should it be suite) which was large, comfortable and had every facility as had the bathroom.
Breakfast, which is superb, is served on the 9th floor and the restaurant has stunning views over the bay. Throughout our 4 night stay all the staff were courteous and attentive and we will have no hesitation in returning.
