We stayed at Calypso Hotel last June for our week's diving holiday.
The rooms are clean and comfortable - we paid a little extra for a sea view room which was worth it - our travel buddy had a single room with a less appealing view of the building next door. The bathroom was very clean with a bathtub, although pretty cramped. Oh, and the beds were very hard.
Breakfast is served in the dining room which has a nice view of the harbour, buffet style with a very good selection of food - omelettes made to order, fresh fruit and a plethora of pastries. The dinner itself was less impressive - we dined in one night during which a set three course meal was served. It was average and certaintly not as good as our dinners out.
On the other hand, the rooftop restaurant had good bar food - chicken nuggets and chips were a favourite, and quite reasonably priced. The pool was a good size, although we didn't actually get in it having spent our days in the sea diving.
We found the staff to be very average - not overly friendly, but got the job done. The staff at the roof bar were, however, very nice and provided a high quality of service.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Calypso Hotel. It was clean, comfortable and very well located - less than 5 minutes walk to our dive centre, Gozo Aqua Sports which we highly recommend (see review). We booked through Olympic Holidays and thought the package of flight and hotel (B&B) was very good value.
When we next come back to dive, we will certainly stay here again.
