We had a great experience at the Nordica overall. Our room was just what we needed - a base to chill out in during a busy few days of seeing Reykjavik plus a couple of trips out of the city. The location is ok, it's a good 15 min walk along a main road into city centre though. However, we made use of the hotel's free shuttle bus service, which runs in the morning and evening. A taxi was under £10.
We treated ourselves one night to eating in the hotel restaurant - food was excellent and not as expensive as I feared! Overall actually Iceland, with a devalued Kroner, was mre affordable hen expected. A beer was typically £5-6, although many bars do half price happy hour deals, which are worth taking advantage of!
Staff are very polite and unobtrusive, in the Icelandic way, but happy to talk if you iniditiate it. One annoyance was not having to ask twice to get non feather bedding, and late one evening being unable o get replacement coffe making supplies.
Overall though, a very classy hotel, in a handy enough spot. I would stay again, although next time I may try to get somewhere more central.
