I've stayed here previously, and was very satisfied so booked this hotel a second time too.
The location is still very good (the hotel has not moved...). Since last time "Harpa" has opened just across the main street. Harpa is the new large culture house of Iceland.
This weekend we got a room on the ground floor, which I never like due to noise. The receptionist asked if we wanted bathrobes for use at the spa in the cellar, which was nice thing to ask at check in.The room was a bit smaller than last time I stayed there.
There were no remote control to the TV, so we had to ask for one, and they said that they would bring one to us...which never happened. We got one after asking once again. The light in the ceiling did not work at all.
There is tiles on the floor, which is a bit cold to walk on during winter. We asked if there were any possibilities to change room during our weekend stay, but it wasn't. It was quite noisy as all talking in the lobby could be heard well inside our room.
The breakfast is served at the top floor. It it strange to see how they have solved (or NOT solved) the logistic of serving people breakfast. There is a buffet, but since the buffet is set up with quite un logical guests are walking back and forth trying to find things. Coffe cups are located at a table in the quite opposite side of the room from were you'll find tea and coffe etc. I have many other examples as well. If the staff have to work in theis way all mornings I'm surprsied they haven't made any changes. The breakfast buffet is quite ordinary. There are some hot dishes, cheese, ham and marmelade, müsli etc. There were no boiled eggs.
It's an OK hotel, but next time I would stay somewhere else.
