A friend and I travelled here for the weekend and it was the perfect base for exploring Reykjavik. The rooms and beds are stylishly turned out and comfortable. A little bit of industrial chic. Our room had a rainfall type shower which was great to stand under after the cold wintery weather outside.
There is a bar that has a happy hour in the reception, you can book all island excursions via reception and get picked up from outside of the hotel. We went to the Blue Lagoon, which I would strongly recommend to soak off your travels and any night time excess.
In terms of location it is in a quiet side street just off the main strip through town, quite a few bars, coffee shops and restaurants are close to hand as well as many retail outlets.
There was a reasonable range of items for breakfast, however some of the warm breakfast was not so warm when we ate there.
The female receptionist through the day was very pleasant, polite and efficient at booking our excursions, general queries and local knowledge.
It is worth googling Reykjavik happy hour and the day you are there to see where the offers for drinks are, a 0.5l beer can work out at about £2 during happy hour. This city can be very expensive, but with a little bit of planning is not too bad. Prikid close by is good for pancakes and free coffee refills, Laundromat Cafe is a pretty cool place to relax and watch passers-by and if you like hot-dogs, the guy near the harbour sells really goot ones for not a lot of money.
Cool hotel, cool city worth considering for a long weekend, only wish I'd had another couple of days.
