This guest house is perfect: great staff, great location, great apartments and free breakfast!

I traveled to Reykjavik in July with my parents and we stayed at Guesthouse Sunna for two nights. Upon arrival we were upgraded from a triple room to an apartment. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable with a great little kitchen.
We had a view of Hallgrimskirkja from our window and the downtown was only a short walk away. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was nice (standard fare, nothing fancy).
There was a bit of noise from the apartment above but by 11pm all was quiet...now if only the sun would set...

We stayed during our last trip in Iceland three nights in the Sunna guesthouse as it had been recommended to us. We had two rooms with en suite bathroom 203 and 204. On the first night room 204 smelled so awful that our kids refused to stay in it. After complaining, the cleaning lady recleaned the room and it improved a little but the smell was still there. When we came back three days later for another night and unfortunately had the same rooms and room 204 still smelled. The breakfast was basic and the breakfast room was every morning overcrowded and it was impossible to find a table fitting the five of us. If you are travelling with children, we recommend the baldursbra guesthouse (they have very nice flats in summer) where the price/quality is excellent and Evelyne, the owner was really great.

The location was great. The room was fine, but the bathroom was tiny. Of the two places we stayed in in Reykjavik, this had less value for the money. We found the desk staff helpful and gave excellent recommendations for dining.

Situated at the top of the hill right by the great big modern church, Sunna is a nice little B&B. They've always gone out of their way to find me the best room at the best price and have put a special breakfast on for me once because I was a little late. The rooms are basic but they have everything you need. If you want an en suite, you can pay for one but if you're happy sharing a bathroom in an apartment setup then that is available as well.
