“No fuss, pleasant 3 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

If you're looking for a decent 3 star hotel in Reykjavik you could do a lot worse than book Hotel Bjork.

Located on the eastern outskirts of the city centre, it offers clean accomodation with standard rooms akin to a Best Western or a Premier Inn in the UK.

It takes around 20 minutes to walk into the heart of Reykjavik but the main bus companies such as Reykjavik Excursions do stop here when taking you on tours. I wouldn't say the distance is a major problem, but worth considering if you want to be nearer the centre of things.

The room we had was fine - ask for a mountain view room a few floors up. The towels were small, so perhaps wise to take your own - but the shower worked brilliantly.

Reception was good - manned 24 hours and because we had an early morning checkout they arranged a sandwich and the offer of a coffee before we departed - nice touch.

In essence, if you're relatively fit, don't mind a walk into town and are not bothered so much about location then book Bjork -- good standard accomodation and good value.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view room

“Pleasant stay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My sister and I stayed at this property for the first 3 nights of our Iceland stay. The room is quite small and was too warm for our tastes. The beds were comfortable with lovely quilts, but we couldn't use the quilts because of all the heat.
The hotel staff was helpful, but gave us the wrong information on northern lights activity causing us to miss an excellent display.
The location was good since we like to walk. We walked to the Pearl and to the downtown area a couple of times.
The breakfast was plentiful and good. We ate dinner at the restaurant and our meals were also good.

Room Tip: Our room had nothing to distinguish itself.

“icelands premier inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

stayed hear for 4 nights while in iceland.
Reminded me of a premier inn what we have back in england.
Reception people nice and frendly, cleaners did good job, everything nice and clean, everything working.
slightly out of the way, just a tad bit out of center, 15 minutes walk to center, slight hill.
View from room 317 was amazing.

Breakfast wasnt very good, no english ITEMS they was bread for toast, salard, fish, hard egg, fruit juice and teas and coffee. would have been better if they was items like cerial, or cerial bars, sausages, eggs, bacon, ect . only had breakfast once due to this.

The resturant their is really nice, romantic and peaceful, one night i had stake chips and salard, vey nice and well presented, one night i had chicken and mash, it was OK . guests get 10% off too so thats good, they was alot of people from around town coming hear so must have a good reputation.

JUST 1 DOWN SIDE....... underneath this hotel is a karate studio, and at karate its very loud with shouting and banging due to people doin MOVES ect on each other. so the banging and shouting was really loud right up till about 10.30 at night, which was when we was ready to go to sleep so that wasnt that bad but if your wanting to go to sleep eairlyer than that then ad ask to be put on top floor.

Room Tip: ask for room at front, as these have views of mountains and its an amazing room.

“Lovely hotel and well worth the cost”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Considering this hotel is classified as 3* in the literature, we really couldn't fault the whole experience of our three night stay.

From the helpful checking in at reception and the pleasant room we had, we couldn't complain about anything. After the first nights sleep though, the guests in the room next door to us came in late and we could hear every word they spoke, not shouted, but spoke, so I think the walls are a little thin !! This didn't last for long though, so slept really well. Also, there is Karate lessons taking place in the evening under the hotel and there can be some loud music played, but this is only for the early part of the evening.

When you look at the hotel on a map in relation to the city, it looks like you need to get a cab but if your agile and a brisk walker, you'll be in the centre before you know it !!!

Overall, this hotel was great. The breakfast was lovely, there was free wifi internet, which was free and worked well with great reception all over the hotel (more than a lot of 5* hotels offer !) The staff were courteous and helpful and even phoned excursion companies to confirm trips we had booked.

Just take a pair of ear plugs, should you have noisy neighbours but all in all, the hotel is excellent and when we go to Iceland next time, for we will return, we will stay here again.

“Hotel Bjork”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Excellent hotel, warm and friendly atmosphere, wonderful view over the bay and mountains.Helpfull, English, speaking staff. We had booked breakfast as part of the package and were in no way disapointed. The evening meal we booked per night and although pricey (by english standards) were promptly served and very tasty. The hotel is reasonably central, only about 20 mins walk to the main city centre, ideal for many of the interesting places to visit. Didn't use buses or taxis during our stay, prefering to walk in the snow albeit with chains on our boots and our thermals on. In all a wonderful experience for 2 not very confident travellers, booked through Thompson T/A in Matlock Derbyshire. I would certainly stay at the hotel again on our next visit to Reykjavick, perhaps in the summer. Troll.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the bay and mountains, what a view to wake up to.
