If you're looking for a decent 3 star hotel in Reykjavik you could do a lot worse than book Hotel Bjork.
Located on the eastern outskirts of the city centre, it offers clean accomodation with standard rooms akin to a Best Western or a Premier Inn in the UK.
It takes around 20 minutes to walk into the heart of Reykjavik but the main bus companies such as Reykjavik Excursions do stop here when taking you on tours. I wouldn't say the distance is a major problem, but worth considering if you want to be nearer the centre of things.
The room we had was fine - ask for a mountain view room a few floors up. The towels were small, so perhaps wise to take your own - but the shower worked brilliantly.
Reception was good - manned 24 hours and because we had an early morning checkout they arranged a sandwich and the offer of a coffee before we departed - nice touch.
In essence, if you're relatively fit, don't mind a walk into town and are not bothered so much about location then book Bjork -- good standard accomodation and good value.
