My friend and I stayed in the hotel in December. The room was sufficiently large for the 2 of us and very clean and warm. We had a nice view looking out to the harbour and mountains. It was very basic, but for the price we were more than satisfied.

Pros:
1) Cheap
2) Very clean - bathroom was decently nice with granite/lava rock accents
3) Free breakfast - but not very tasty and poor selection
4) Front desk staff are sufficiently helpful, especially the man on weekend nights with the glasses - he was very nice and helpful
5) Blowdryer
6) Good temperature control on cold winter nights
7) EXCELLENT LOCATION - short walk to everything of importance
8) Nice sheets and comforter
9) Quiet when we stayed there

Cons:
1) Shower gets water everywhere - this was not really a con for me as this is the norm in Asia and I really don't care
2) No restaurant or snacks in the hotel for late night munchies
3) No internet except the lone computer in the lobby (which works well), hence no iPhone data unless you want to pay for roaming
4) NO CLOCK IN THE ROOM - in the place of the clock, there was a radio. This was so strange for me as I don't wear a watch and my iPhone battery was dying. We had no idea what time it was or how to wake up other than getting a wake up call, which I hate.
5) Front desk could not provide power adapter because a guest had stolen the only one. So DON'T FORGET YOUR ADAPTER PLUG!

We stayed here as part of a flight / hotel package deal for 7 nights.

I had had communication with the hotel prior to arriving regarding parking, we had a rental car, and we were quickly told that there were a few parking buildings very nearby for approx 40p an hour. (Which we found and always had a spot – just a note, on Sundays the hours are shortened, so if you need the car on Sunday you will need to park elsewhere on Saturday night – street parking is fine and mostly free)

The room we had was on the 5th floor and faced out over the harbour and mountains. We found it very comfortable, a good size with all the needed extras for a week long stay (fridge and jug w/ tea and coffee). The bathroom was smallish but workable and the room was re made everyday – regardless of us putting up the sign on the door. Linen and towels were of good quality.
Warmth wise the radiator heaters provided us with a cozy haven, which we were able to adjust in the room easily.

The breakfast was a basic: juices and hot drinks, cold meats, cereal, toast and buns, hard boiled eggs and of course, the pickled vegetables, and fish.

The location we found was excellent; it was a very short walk up to the main shopping and bar street. A bit further to culture things but if we managed it in snow and -10 degrees I am sure anyone else can ;)

They had a computer by the lift with Free Wifi – added bonus for us as our laptops cable broke while on the trip

Overall this hotel provided a nice base for us the explore Iceland.

CenterHotel Klopp is a comfortable budget-friendly hotel with a great location within the city-center. Hotel Klopp offered a very nice breakfast and a staff who were all helpful and pleasant. We stayed three nights in early October. Try to get a room on a higher floor - it's quieter (less street noise) and ours even had a beautiful view of the harbor. Our only minor complaint was that our room was always a bit chilly. It got a bit warmer at night, but we couldn't find a way to adjust the heat during the day. (Not a huge problem for us, as we were out most of the day anyway.) We were happy we stayed within the city center and not outside of it, as I believe you miss out on a lot if you have to be shuttled in to the city every time you want to explore.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the CenterHotel Klopp for two nights in November 2011. The hotel was part of a vacation package that we booked through Icelandair.

The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance of many sites and restaurants. The guestrooms are a nice size, but the bathrooms are a bit on the small size (see pictures). The breakfast was decent - breads, pastries, salads, cheeses, etc. The staff were really friendly and accommodating.

Overall, I have no major complaints, but outside noise was definitely an issue one night. Our room was on the second floor, so maybe a higher floor would be less prone to street noise.
