“Its a nice place”

A friend and I went to Reykjavik the first week in Nov. The room and shower are small but for the price we weren't expecting anything grand. The hotel is in a good location 5 min walk to the main shopping street and about a 10-15 min walk downtown. Its a very pleasant walk you can window shop the whole way. Staff was very helpful, polite, and accommodating. They gave us an early check in 8am and were always willing to give us directions and highlight our routes on a map. Breakfast was good they had cereal, skyr, bread, cheese, deli meat, fruit, a waffle maker, fish, juice, coffee, tea. We ate plenty every morning and were full until lunch. Get an inside room, we faced the street and it was loud every night. It felt like every car or person that walked by was in the room with us. Internet is free on a computer in the lobby but in the room you can only access FossHotel approved sites. We were able to use Gmail no problem but I don't think anything else worked. The internet charge was $15 for 24hours we decided it wasn't worth it.

“small but pleasant stay”

Fosshotel Lind was unfortunately not all that i had expected, but was definitely accommodating and a pleasant stay. After traveling all night, the hotel allowed us to check-in at 8:00 AM (because a room was available), as well as eat breakfast. My friend and i entered our room and there was just one full sized bed... which when booking online, the bed size or type was not listed (or i could not find it). Within minutes, the receptionist changed our room to 2 twin beds at our request. The room was extremely small: 2 twin beds, night stand, desk, 2 desk chairs, closet, hair dryer, small bathroom. The room did not have a thermostat in the room, and became very warm at night, especially with the thick blankets on the bed. It was very different than the hotels that i am used to staying in around the United States, however most things were still available to you at the reception desk or dining area.
The breakfast was good and was included in the price of our room. They always had bread for toast, cereal and milk, yogurt, granola waffles, fresh fruit, cheese and sandwich meat, and cookies. Breakfast was available from 6 to 10. It was very nice to eat a good breakfast before heading out on a tour for the day.
The staff was quiet, but very helpful and nice =) There was 24 hour staffing at the front desk and the front doors become locked at some point during the night.
Although the hotel was not located along the main streets in Rekjavik, it was easy to walk to the main streets with shops and restaurants. It was only a 10 to 15 minute walk to most shops and about 30 minutes to the harbor.
Overall the hotel was not very spacious or elegant, but it was very accommodating and well worth the stay/price. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

“great staff, great location, standard hotel”

This is very central hotel in Reykjavik, rooms are fairly standard most have twin beds but the food is excellent and the staff are excellent. There is a tv in the room with plenty of chalnnels. The hotel doesnt have a specific 'bar' as such to sit and have a drink but there's plenty of drinking holes around. Great coffee shop just out of the hotel to the left 100m away. The hot water smells of sulphur, its not a problem with the pipes its that the water comes from the natural springs so dont worry about it.

“The place to stay in Reykjavik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2010

This hotel is walking distance to almost everything in reykjavik and is a 2 minute walk from the main bus station so you can very easily get the bus to anywhere further afield which makes it excellent for business or leisure. The staff are the friendliest I have come across in any hotel - going out of their way to be helpful. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is fresh (no tinned fruits here and the juice is real and not squash!). The lobby as free internet access. The restuarant offers a good choice of food for meals - I thought the mushroom soups was especially nice and very generous portions! I must give a special mention to the manager - Gunnar. We were stranded in Iceland due to the volcano and Gunnar did more than anyone would reasonably expect to be helpful in every way possible and make our stay as comfortable as he could. I loved Iceland and will definately go back and when I do return to Reykjavik, will stay here again!

“Great Hotel for the Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

We stayed at the Fosshotel Lind over a 3 day weekend. We arrived at the hotel at 8am and we were allowed to check in early. The hotel is very close to the main shopping street and walking distance to most attractions in Reykjavik. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When our tour was 10 minutes late, they called the company to confirm our pickup. Breakfast was provided each morning. It was very good and consisted of cereal, bread for toast, meats and cheese, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, milk, juice and coffee or tea. Our room was small, but very clean. Our only complaint was the pillows-very thin and soft. They need replacing, otherwise, we were very happy with our stay and would stay there again.
