Stayed here for 1 night on our recent 2 week trip around Iceland, a family of 4 with teenagers. Booked 2 twin room with shared facilities in this typical Edda Simmer Hotel housed in High School Accommodation. Situated on the Highway 1 some 3 k.m. north of Hofn it offers great views of the Glaciers from the north facing rooms and the restaurant area. Rooms are spacy and clean, but as usual in this accomodation are placed down echoey corridors. This was a smaller Edda than some of the others we stayed in, and was full indicated by the number of people being turned away.
Typical Icelandtc Buffet breakfast served in the restaurant area at extra cost. This was the smallest Edda restaurant we encountered and was extremly busy as the one coach party chose to eat together. AS with other Edda Evening meal menu's out teenagers would touch what was available, and we passed on the small N1 grill opposite and ate in one of the several restuarants and inns in Hofn. Hofn is well equiped with several supermarkets, banks and shops being a principal town.
We were extremely lucky with the weather at this point of our tour around iceland with great warm and clear sunny days for the travel down from Ejilissadir via the wounderful East Fjords (great gravel road experience!), on onwards pass the galciers and Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon. So we were in a good mood after experiencing the worst of Iceland weather several days before (Highs of 7C, driving northr wind and rain).
