Whilst on holiday in Kyrenia we decide to visit a few other hotels so as to a First impressions review of what it feel like as you walk into the hotel.
Ok now bearing in mind this was in mid Oct 2011 I was expecting to find the place quite and as expected it was. the hotel has to main building the newer being the Royal. To be honest at first sight it seemed all ok but he closer I looked the more it looked old and tired. We never entered the hotel buildings but walked down a hill to the beach passing a quite standard pool area to the right hand side.
Entry to the beach is through a covered restaurant area. I cannot say if entry to the beach is chargeable as there were no signs nor did any member of staff stop us, maybe this was due to it being so quite. The beach is in a small cove with loads of sun loungers and watersports activities though none were in use.
If you are looking for a place to rest on the beach and do little else this might be for you, if however you are looking for a little more from your holiday a car is going to be a must. I am aware that there are a few good restaurants nearby but even these will require a fair bit of effort on foot or you will be dipping in for taxi's all the time.
With so many other hotels in Kyrenia upping their style I do feel the Royal's crown will be slipping.
