“Denizkizi Royal Hotel . First impressions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

Whilst on holiday in Kyrenia we decide to visit a few other hotels so as to a First impressions review of what it feel like as you walk into the hotel.
Ok now bearing in mind this was in mid Oct 2011 I was expecting to find the place quite and as expected it was. the hotel has to main building the newer being the Royal. To be honest at first sight it seemed all ok but he closer I looked the more it looked old and tired. We never entered the hotel buildings but walked down a hill to the beach passing a quite standard pool area to the right hand side.
Entry to the beach is through a covered restaurant area. I cannot say if entry to the beach is chargeable as there were no signs nor did any member of staff stop us, maybe this was due to it being so quite. The beach is in a small cove with loads of sun loungers and watersports activities though none were in use.
If you are looking for a place to rest on the beach and do little else this might be for you, if however you are looking for a little more from your holiday a car is going to be a must. I am aware that there are a few good restaurants nearby but even these will require a fair bit of effort on foot or you will be dipping in for taxi's all the time.
With so many other hotels in Kyrenia upping their style I do feel the Royal's crown will be slipping.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I understand from your review that you have not stayed in either one of our hotels. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to stay with us for your next visit in North Cyprus.

As Autumn is the season when our guests prefer to relax and enjoy themselves, our activities in the hotel are minimized to allow them for a rather peaceful time. If you prefer to enjoy more of our facilities and activities, I would recommend that you visit in the Summer when you can enjoy a range of sea sports, evening entertainment and a lot more. We also have a car rental service to make sure our guests' make most of the local area attractions should they wish to do so.

Lastly, I want to emphasize that one of our hotel buildings have recently been fully renovated to make sure that we meet and exceed the expectations of our guests.

It would be a pleasure to welcome you back in North Cyprus at Denizkizi.

Best Wishes,

Cavidan

This hotel is old.it has 2 buildings DenizkIzi Royal and Denizkizi. There is no disco,no animation, but the beach is amazing ,it has harbour, and all watersports ( water ski,jet ski, etc.). The hotel location isgood, near the hotel there are a lo of nice café's and restaurants.also about 10 min walking from the hotel there are the escape beach disco and ice club. Near the hotel every 5 minutes the bus passes by, and you can go to the city centre. There are a lot of shops, casinos, café's. We had only breakfast included, and it had a small assortment. The hotel pros are : 1.the beach it is very clean and has a lot of free space,so can find free beach bed every time you come, 2.
the hotel location. 3. if you come there to rest the hotel itself is very quite. we stayed there for 1 week and there was no screams,no crying.it is very very quite. The cons are: 1.The hotel is not for young people. 2. hotel is not 4 stars,it is more 3 stras. it is a bit old. 3.the casino is not working.

Firstly, thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel. We are very pleased that you were overall satisfied with your holiday. I want to take this opportunity to advise you that we have completely renovated the Denizkizi building which is next door to Denizkizi Royal and this hotel now offers elegantly decorated rooms and are priced roughly at the same rate as the Denizkizi Royal building. We hope that these rooms will help make your next stay more enjoyable and more comfortable.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back at Denizkizi!

“What a great place to stay”

this hotel is faultless in every way. The staff are fantastic and the owner is always on hand to assist in anyway possible. The hotel comes with a private beach and the sea is great for snorkelling.
The owner also owns a couple of restaurants in the town which are well worth a visit.
Try it, you won't be disappointed.

“Relaxed but a little dated”

I stayed here with my partner for 10 days in late September 2011. I agree with the other reviewers that it is a relaxed, friendly and pleasant place to stay. The beach and pool areas are lovely, clean with plenty of sunbeds and sunshades.
The only negatives I would say are that the bedrooms are quite dated and in need of up-dating. There is also an issue with noises from the laundry and (I presume) a generator that were very noisy and spoiled the pleasure of sitting on the balcony. That was a shame.
The food is well cooked and reasonably varied, although the serving area is a bit Stalinist looking. The serving staff are all first class, friendly and willing. Eating on the terrace in the evening was pleasant with the candle lit tables and the views of the gardens. Prices for drinks etc were reasonable too.

All in all I had a very relaxing and pleasant time there.

Room Tip: We were first put in room 1316 but asked to move because of the noise. The bathroom was also rusty a...

“Can't wait to return in 2012!”

I know it's a year late in submitting this review but never mind. After visiting Kyrenia in 2007 (Almond Holiday Village) we decided to visit the Denizkizi as we had visited it in 2007 and were impressed with its location and private beach. We were very pleased with our decision. We stayed at the DR on a B&B basis and used local eateries in the evening. Breakfasts at the DR were excellent with a wide choice on offer. Room was excellent with beautiful sea views. Most of our time was spent at the pool which we had to ourselves for most of the time. Pool bar was excellent with a wide range of meals and drinks, all reasonably priced. One of the highlights for me was the fact that the hotel served Efes on draught - one of the few places we have found in Northern Cyprus that actually serve draught beer. We visited the mainland this year on an all-inclusive basis in a 5 star hotel but it could not compete with the Denizkizi Royal so we have booked to return here in 2012.

Room Tip: You will pay a bit more to stay in the Denizkizi Royal rather than the older Denizkizi part of the h...
