The hotel is a very short drive from the Railway Station. It was snowing in the 3rd week of January 2012 , and the temperature was around minus 10 degrees C. We tried the large turnstile-type entrance door and found that it was under repairs : a sign showed us the way to Reception using a side door.
Check-in formalities were quick, and the staff did not face major problems with our (Indian) names. From my room in the 10th floor, I had a good view of the hotel approach, the town of Tampere beyond and the river. The large double bed took up a good amount of the room space. The bed itself had meticulously clean linen and accessories. Noticing a card lying on the floor next to the bed, I picked it up, thinking that it was left behind by a careless chambermaid. The card was actually signed by a chambermaid, and it said that she has had a look at the space below the bed and has ensured that there are no "Dust Balls' around! I felt a bit small at having suspected the staff of carelessness earlier!
The temperature controls in the room was about adequate and served its purpose of proper and comfortable room settings. The towels and accessories in the bathroom were rather superlative and generous.
The hotel was going through renovations of its restaurants, and hence breakfast was served in the coffee shop . There were limitations in the offered spread - the choice of breads was not sufficient, and the "Omelette Counter" was not available on all days. Perhaps matters would improve once the restaurant renovations are completed in February 2012
