We chose the hotel for its location and for the possibility to book an extra room for teens with a reduced price. We are family of five, and usually need 2 rooms in any given hotel. The spacious rooms were located on the same floor, but were not adjacent.

The breakfast buffet had something for everybody. There was a separate pancake section for children, and it turned out to be just as popular among adults.

The staff is pleasant and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay and would like to recommend the hotel.

I've traveled to Tampere multiple times for work and stayed at Scandic, Tampere City twice. Its location is great for finding meals outside the hotel, but don't discount the opportunities to eat here. They "restaurant" has great variety of options and the breakfast buffet is something North American hotels don't even come close to matching. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. If you have traveled in Western Europe, you may have noted some rooms are quite small when compared to those in the US. This hotel has large rooms which rival the size of major chains in the states. It is situated right by the train station and so, taxis are plentiful. The staff is more than pleasant even for those who can only say 'kiitos' for their service.

The hotel is located next to Tampere railway-station and therefore very handy for traveller arriving with a train. Hotel is also very close to Hämeenkatu (street, where a lot of shops / restaurants at Tamere are situated).

My room was big one and had good and free wireless internet connection, coffee maker, safe, ironing things, good air-conditioning and so on. Bathroom was a little outdated :-( but water pressure was very good even on the fifth floor.

They have made little renovation here and there and overall it looks quite ok. On the other hand you can see from the textures and bathrooms that they have still some work to do.

Breakfast was very OK, if you dare try the black-sausage (mustamakkara) that is speciality in of Tampere!

Scandic Tampere City is the an excellent choice in the heart of Tampere. The hotel is situated at the main shoppingstreet and next to teh train station. The bus-station is just a few blocks away. The Tampere Talo is a 10 minutes walk away. Very friendly staff with always ready to help. They speak english and an excellent swedish as well.
