I stayed in Scandic Rosendahl with my family for a night. Room is large enough to fit in two extra beds without being too cramped. With Scandic you always know what you get and Rosendahl is no exception. Facilities are good, breakfast is good and short waiting at reception. Rosendahl is better than an average Scandic when it comes to the large parking areas close to hotel and own tennis courts. Even though the distance to city centre is not that far it really feels that you are in the country side when you arrive at Rosendahl. Hotel is located on the beach of the large lake and surrounded by forest. No other buildings around. This location makes it less convenient to take a walk in the city centre or just go out and eat others than hotel food.

Stayed again for business. Updated pros and cons.

+ nice view to lake Pyhäjärvi from 4th floor
+ breakfast clearly meets *** standard, not **** though
+ easy parking
+ sauna, gym and inside pool included in room price
+ good and big-sized bed
+ shop at reception

o location outside city centre, but good parking and great environment with extensive parks and lakeshore
o suitable for families, but works well for business also
o restaurant with reasonable price / quality

- wall to wall carpet in non-smoking rooms - should be hardwood instead
- apparently pets are allowed in rooms with wall to wall carpet (!)
- outdated equipment in room, e.g. small TV with CRT
- bathroom not very comfortable, but clean though
- reception personnel not very efficient, but friendly

The rooms and most of the hotel are straight from the 80s and, although well maintained and clean, would benefit from some renovation. The lobby's a good start.

The nice pool, a gym and quiet, although remote, location are a plus.

The male bartender might need a refresh course in customer service.
Great young and friendly brunette at the front desk though !

We stayed at Rosendahl for 2 nights in July 2011 as in town for a family event. I picked the hotel as the rates we're really reasonable (think it's normally a business hotel - the summer season may be slow?) and the location was nice.
Plusses: beautiful location just by a lake. Great for walks and if it's warm enough, a nice little beach. The rooms we're quiet and the hotel lobby had a little snack shop which turned out to be handy.
Minuses:
The actual hotel is just ok, nothing special. The lobby has clearly had a facelift but once you get to the rooms, they need updating. The furniture and the overall look is really dated. The breakfast was plentiful but not very tasty and there was a run-in on the 2nd morning between some of the guests and the kitchen staff regarding opening hours of the restaurant. The staff started to clear out the area half an hour before the time and argued back to guests that complained. I think I'm a bit old school here, the the customer is surely always right?
