I've stayed at the Alexandra for 3-4 times (single nights) mostly on business trips. The hotel has economy, standard and premium rooms available, but there are differences even between stardards rooms. I recommend that when booking an room you mention that you want an renovated room above the reception (floor 3 to 4) which was wireless access available (these are the best rooms). The older standard rooms are quite small and do not have an individual ac-unit. Some standard rooms come with an tub and some have an shower. If you are redirected to another room instead of the one you mentioned when making the booking, make sure that they will take that into account with the price of the room!
It should be noted that the hotel is quite an maze and getting to the sauna/exercise facilities you either have to go throught the restaurant Amarillo or first go to floor 3 and then take the elevator down at the old wing. The facilities are small, but adequate.
Parking may be quite a pain, because the amount of avaible space is limited and the parking garage may let you enter even if it's completely full! It's hard to reverse back from there if you are unable to turn your car around in the small space! Parking is 10e/night.
The hotel has three restaurants: Gastropub Jalo, Franseska and Fransmanni. Jalo offers premium food made from fresh produce from local suppliers, but is a bit pricey. Fransmanni offers quite nice food and a high value for your money, but may be too noisy if you want to have an romantic evening. Franseska is pre-order only and offers excellent breakfast every morning.
The transportation terminal (train and bus) is located opposite the hotel just a short walk away. Also the centrum with it's shops and services are easily accessible just around the corner.
