“Nice place to stay, in Jyväskylä Centrum”

I was happy with this hotel many times in a working trips, this time i stayed four nights.
Hotel needs a bit renovation, but is still even stylish and have nice facilities, like nice sauna and little pool department. Friendly and helpful staff.

What you need to know is that In this Hotel there is "old" and "new" side. When booking a room, ask new side, if you wish to have better TV and Wlan internet access, there is also Internet access in "old" side but with a cable.
In Hotel there is also two nice restaurants, Jalo and Fransmanni. My own favourite is Gastro Pub Jalo, which have nice set of different beers and foods.

Good breakfast, continental style but that is what to be expected. Hotel location is near the town centrum, also near Railwaystation, walking street and shops. Would definitely use this hotel when going back to Jyväskylä. Had a nice stay.

Summa summarum, nice place to stay in business trip beacause location was also wery good.

Stayed Nowember 2011, work trip.

Room Tip: In this Hotel there is "old" and "new" side. When booking a room, ask new side...

“Needs renovation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

Pros: Located in the very center ov town, Breakfast super, Beds comfortable, Flat screen TV and free WLAN in the room, Clean shower
Cons: Room noisy, a huge AC just above the beds blowing cold air, Both the room and the restaurant need urgent renovation, Absolutely not wheel-chair friendly.

“ok stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

Spent just an overnight at Alexandra on our way up north. We got an economy room at the older part of the hotel and it was decent. Airconditioning was somewhat noisy, but not too much troubling, we did have a good night sleep. Room a little bit outdated, but the bed was comfortable and bathroom had a bath, which is not usual in Finland.
Nice (normal) breakfast with lots of choises.
Only trouble was the not-so-great service at front desk: they had 3 people working when we arrived, but no-one noticed us with any gesture, smile or anythihg while they had something else to do behind the desk with their own duties. A simple smile and a note "just a minute" would have made a huge difference!
Oh, and I do have to complain about the parking; there just is not enough space at their backyard, so we had to drive a block away to another parking house after looking for an empty space for a while.

“Nothing suprising, but nothing missing. A wierd mix of old and new.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

I've stayed at the Alexandra for 3-4 times (single nights) mostly on business trips. The hotel has economy, standard and premium rooms available, but there are differences even between stardards rooms. I recommend that when booking an room you mention that you want an renovated room above the reception (floor 3 to 4) which was wireless access available (these are the best rooms). The older standard rooms are quite small and do not have an individual ac-unit. Some standard rooms come with an tub and some have an shower. If you are redirected to another room instead of the one you mentioned when making the booking, make sure that they will take that into account with the price of the room!

It should be noted that the hotel is quite an maze and getting to the sauna/exercise facilities you either have to go throught the restaurant Amarillo or first go to floor 3 and then take the elevator down at the old wing. The facilities are small, but adequate.

Parking may be quite a pain, because the amount of avaible space is limited and the parking garage may let you enter even if it's completely full! It's hard to reverse back from there if you are unable to turn your car around in the small space! Parking is 10e/night.

The hotel has three restaurants: Gastropub Jalo, Franseska and Fransmanni. Jalo offers premium food made from fresh produce from local suppliers, but is a bit pricey. Fransmanni offers quite nice food and a high value for your money, but may be too noisy if you want to have an romantic evening. Franseska is pre-order only and offers excellent breakfast every morning.

The transportation terminal (train and bus) is located opposite the hotel just a short walk away. Also the centrum with it's shops and services are easily accessible just around the corner.

“Good Hotel, great Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2010

Very clean rooms, loooking recently renovated. The rooms are not too big if the room is used by two, for one alone it was fine.

Free high speed broadband internet is offered, cable and wireless connection possible.

Nice and also quite new Sauna with 3 different whirlpools. Obviously the guests used it more for a sauna party than for the relaxing, quite way to rest. That was a new experience to me. Some even took their beer cans in the sauna cabin.

The restaurant ist absolutely great. Well, high priced particularly with wine as usual in Scandinavia, but the food and beverages are excellent.

Well trained, helpful and competent staff in all departments.

The breakfast has a large variety and is presented in a very clean and nice way.

Highly recommended place if one travels there!!
