“2 stars maximum”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Thankfully we've spent only one night in this hotel. It's very close to railway station which is about the only convinience. It's veeeeeery dated and poorly preserved. The rooms are quite small. We had an old lamp-TV, very uncomfortable matresses and pillows, someone's hair in the sink in the bathroom and rust in the shower. There's no possibility to regulate the temperature in the room individually. It was very stuffy in the room so we wanted to open the window to let some air in - didn't work - there was no handle on the window and it was nowhere to be found. The sound isolation is very poor as well, so you hear all the talking in the room next to yours. Do not stay in this hotel if you can avoid it

“Way below Scandic standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

We've been to Scandic hotel in Turku and compared to that one this hotel in Lahti was quite below our expectations. The quality of the Scandic in Turku is so much better than the one in Lahti!

First of all the location is not the best, it's a little off the city centre. Also, you have to pay for the parking (not included in the price).
The hotel itself is dated and there aren't any signs of which way to go to find the right room yet the halls are kind of long. The door of the shower cabin was broken.
Room was small and it was freezing there because the heating wasn't on when we arrived - it was November, after all! It took few hours for the room to warm up! I think it's quite unacceptable in Finland.

The staff were a bit ignorant. They didn't tell us the usual information about where the sauna is, when and where the breakfast was served, when the gym can be used or the time of the check-out. I mean, this information comes automatically in every single hotel in Finland.

The breakfast was very good, which was extremely positive. There was also an ironing board and an iron in the room. Gym and sauna are available all day!

“Good for business purposes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

The hotel is quite good but nothing special. Rooms average size, good beds though, breakfast was very messy as all the tables had not been cleared up so you didn't know where people were sitting. Plenty of choice but stay clear of the coffee, which was dreadful.

“A good hotel for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

The hotel is not new. But there was a repair in last winter.
The hotel is perfectly located near the railway station. You can easy access city center and ski stadium by foot. We walked to the stadium ~15 minutes. There is a small ski museum at the stadium. There is a good ski trail in the area. Some of the trails have an electric light. So you can easy ski in the evening. All the trails is suitable for classic or skating skiing.
The room in the hotel was clean and not big. You can take a kettle at reception.
A breakfast was great. But there was a lot of little children in the restaraunt room at the breakfast time, so it was a little bit loud.
The hotel have a free car parking, but there are not so much parking places.
I like the hotel. It is basic but you have all you need for active winter skiing.

“Not bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

Stayed here to sleep a night before morning train.
A little bit outdated, but beatiful and clean room on 6th floor, beatiful view to forest. And czech beer in the lobby bar. The hotel is entirely non-smoking, so you have to go outside if you wish to smoke.
Location is just few steps from train station, so it was very good for us.
Reception is very friendly and helpful.
Comfortable bed & tasty breakfast - like in all other Scandics.
The city itself is small and a little bit boring, but you can walk though park, feed the ducks in bay and eat tasty pizza in pizzeria on main shopping street.
