Back to Lahti Seurahuone after three years absence. Was assigned a terrible single (and I mean single) room smelling of smoke. Went to change a room and got quite a nice one facing the street, but with twin beds and bathtub. Not the grey modern type room, but a traditional one that actually was surprisingly nice. The rest of the hotel had improved a bit: restaurant seemed nicer and some worn carpets in the staircase had been replaced.

Bad: Garage was full, lifts too few, cleaning of room unsatisfactory, service not very attentive, internet very slow.

Breakfast was ok and food in the restaurant ok as well.

Will continue to prefer the Cumulus.

The Sokos Hotel in Lahti, Finland has a great location in the city center but the hotel itself offers little in the form of amenities. The rooms are small and meagerly appointed. The in-room temperature control was completely ineffective. No part of the hotel is handicap accessible - there are stairs to go up and down in the middle of the hallways and between the hotel and parking garage. The numerous stairs result from the fact that the hotel is connected to other buildings and the buildings are "bandaided" together.

If the cleaning staff sees a Do Not Disturb sign they will not return later clean the room. Once they see the sign, they simply mark the room as "Done."

The staff speaks a little English, but often does not comprehend.

Included breakfast consisted of cold cuts, powdered eggs masquerading as scrambled eggs, and bread and cheese. Tables were hard to find because bus service was virtually non-existant. Available tables were dirty and stacked with dirty dishes.

The hotel is in the heart of Lahti. The hotel like everything is very expensive. The hotel bar is busy for people to meet and move onwards and upwards. The hotel needs major investment and the bar needs a good bouncer to move some people out back onto the street .

The Sokos Hotel in Lahti was fine for our one night stay in early July. The room size was big for European standards, the breakfast buffet featured a fantastic selection of hot and cold food/drinks, the bathroom was a bit outdated, but overall the room was clean and quiet. The room had darkening curtains--much needed in the summer months. Many restaurants, cafes, bars, and shopping opportunities were on the same street as the hotel. We parked on the street as it was the weekend and free of charge, but the hotel does offer a parking garage.
